Dear Friends of Next Step Recovery,

We are enjoying a beautiful Spring in Western North Carolina and are looking forward to many exciting events this month!

We would like to thank the students at Montreat College who have spent the past two months helping our residents prepare for a camping trip they will be embarking on next week. Our student guides have taught us how to plan a camping trip from beginning to end using mapping skills, food planning and execution, and climbing techniques. Camping is one of the many outdoor adventures our residents enjoy while working on their recovery.

This month we will also host our first Annual Campaign evening for prospective donors that will include a brief presentation of our programs and a chance to meet our staff, graduates and Board of Directors.

We are excited to report that we are more than halfway to our goal of raising $30,000. We owe special thanks to The Janirve Foundation for its generous donation of $15,000.

We also want to thank you, our friends and supporters, who make it possible for Next Step Recovery to serve so many deserving individuals.

Many Blessings,

Susan Stader

Face of Addiction Series Continues

Faces of Addiction

On Friday, May 7th, URTV Channel 20 will air the second segment in our video series entitled "The Face of Addiction" at 2:30 and 11:30 p.m.

This second in the series tells the story of one mother who lost both her sons to the disease of addiction.

Local residents can view the program on Channel 20. Those outside URTV's broadcast range can view the segment at www.urtv.org as the station streams the program live.

Once again, our deepest gratitude goes out to Peter Blackshaw of Lakehouse Music, Inc. for making this project possible.
