Playwright Scott Haan is making is JAC debut with a one-act play called Monster Records. It's Amanda's last day as an employee at the campus music store, Monster Records. She'll miss Steve, her father-figure manager, and the employee discount, but that's about it. She definitely won't miss Lewis, the snobbish, arrogant employee who isn't allowed to talk directly to the customers. Now, all Amanda has to do is put the store behind her and survive the suspicious-looking criminal who just came through the door looking to sell stolen property. Maybe she can begin the next phase of her life, if she can manage not getting shot! 8-Person Cast; Single Set. ISBN 1-60513-121-0; JAC #2011-0026. This title is also available via Amazon.com.
Miracle of Faith is Carla Charter's first published play. Perfect for the upcoming holiday season, Miracle of Faith is set on Christmas Eve in a neighborhood church in a poor section of town where an elderly woman encounters two strangers, adrift in the world with no place to spend the night. ISBN #1-60513-120-2; JAC #2011-0025. You can also order this title thru Amazon.com and in Amazon's Kindle format.
The newest release from New England playwright Jon Potter is a one-act play for youth called The Trunk. A wonderful play for a class project or Festival entry, The Trunk tells of a group of students gathering to begin a play rehearsal. On stage is a large golden trunk. After some initial clowning around, the students get curious about the trunk, and eventually open it. The boys go for military costumes and weapons, and one girl dons a tiara and everyone suddenly falls under her spell and must obey. Eventually the boys revolt and try to form a military dictatorship. They are bought off by another using stage-money and candy-bars. The girls form an alliance, one claims dictatorship and forces everyone else into the trunk at swordpoint! At that moment all the actors explode in rebellion, each demanding to be the ruler, but are thwarted suddenly by the voice of the director, demanding the actors return their costumes to the trunk. An inventive, exciting plays with great physical and character challenges for youth actors! ISBN #1-60153-122-9; JAC #2011-0027. You can also order this title thru Amazon.com and in Kindle format.
