New Releases
Charlie and Jay are your typical house pets. Or are they? Jay has been the queen of the house for years. Charlie is a newly-acquired puppy. They can and do get into the same adventures as the children in their audiences. Charlie, short for Prince Charlemagne de Coquille, is a French Briard puppy. The Briard, sometimes called the Chein Berger de Brie, is an Ancient French herding dog. Jay is short for Jaida de les Etoiles - French for Jaida of the Stars. She is a Persian Red Point cat. Together, the have the run of their Master and Mistress' house and the all-important backyard (and beyond). All of the four plays herein cater to a child's endless imagination by engaging them in the plot, and by getting them interactively involved to help our dynamic duo through their (mis) adventures! New from playwright Thomas M. Kelly is a collection of children's plays - The (Mis)Adventures of Charlie & Jay. Included are: You're in Trouble Now, Charlie!, This is Not our Backyard, Charlie!, and Wake Up, Jay! It's Christmas!, Stop Snoring, Jay! I'm Dreaming of Christmas! ISBN #1-60513-085-0; JAC #2010-0026. This title is also available via Amazon.com.
And just in time to plan for the holidays, Nicholas Conti has come through with another family-friendly holiday tale to warm hearts and fill even the coldest of souls with a bit of Christmas spirit - The Little Drummer Boy. Hitting hard times, Sam and Chris' family is hardly expending anything for Christmas this year. Money's just too tight, what with Dad losing his job and Mom's part-time wages barely keeping them in PB&J! But wait! Santa is heard on the roof and, with him he presents what the children truly wished for - Sam gets her artist's set, and Chris gets his drum. But the true gift comes when Chris plays before the family Creche and suddenly brings the Holy Family to life! It's a bit difficult to convince Mom and Dad of the evenings fortunes, but hoofprints left by reindeer (not to mention another surprise or two) make them complete believers by play's end. With a cast of three men, three women, and two children, this one-act Little Drummer Boy is a modern-take on a classic tale. It is perfect for small spaces, church halls, and any budget! ISBN 1-60513-080-X; JAC #2010-0021. This title is also available via Amazon.com.
