What is Shellac Nail Polish?
Shellac Nails, a new "hybrid" gel manicure, is a marriage of attributes between gel and traditional nail polish that is more nail-friendly. It paints on like polish and acts like a gel, but it is not a gel.
Lasting for at least 14 days without chipping, scratching, or smudging, Shellac Nails is well suited for use with gel and acrylic enhancements although it was developed for use in natural nail care.
Lasting 14 days is an accomplishment all by itself, but Shellac does even more. Many women have noticed that their nails are stronger and healthier after using Shellac. Not only does it not damage your nails, it improves the health of your nails. Shellac does not add length. It is intended to overlay and protect your natural nails.
Shellac is 3-Free so it has no DBP, Tolulene, or Formaldehyde. |
How is Shellac different from the traditional polish manicure?

If you're like many and can't help but mess up a manicure before even leaving the salon chair - painted nails a scraggly mess by day two - then you're in luck!
Shellac nail polish is a cross between a regular polish and gel nails set with UV light. This gel polish is painted onto natural nails just like regular polish, but cured under UV light layer by layer.
Typical nail polish dries by evaporation, which means your manicure is not cured until 2-3 hours after your service. Think about it - most of your manicure time is spent waiting for polish to dry. But Shellac is cured by UV light, and within minutes.
Your nails are completely dry by the time your manicure is over, and strong enough to withstand accidental knocks. It acts like a plasticized coating, suitable as a long lasting polish.
How is a Shellac service different from traditional nail enhancements (fake nails)?
Drills are never used or needed with Shellac, and removal does not leave nails dry, thin, possibly torn.
