This weekend I will be traveling to Chicago with four dear friends for a
pilgrimage of sorts. We will be joining
60,000 spiritual searchers for a modern-day revival. The event?
U2 LIVE AT SOLDIER FIELD!
I have followed U2 since the early 1980's with their
breakout album, Boy and saw them for
the first time live in 1987 Carver Hawkeye Arena in Iowa City for the Joshua Tree tour. U2 has
been an incredible source of spiritual inspiration for me as I have reflected
more and more deeply on the lyrics of their songs and been moved by Bono's God-like
voice. (Scot laughs at me whenever a U2
song comes on and I exclaim, "Ah, the voice of God!")
The lyrics that follow are from my favorite U2 song, "I Still Haven't Found What I'm Lookin For." As you read and reflect on these lyrics
(better yet, pull it up on You Tube and listen!), I invite you to reflect on
your own spiritual journey.
- What are you
looking for?
- Where have you traveled on
that search?
- What have you explored on
this journey?
- Have you found it
yet?
(If so, I would love to hear what
you have found and how you found it. After
all, we are here to learn from each other!)
Have a great weekend and I will carry your spirit with me to
the U2 revival meeting at Soldier Field!
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Lookin For
Words and music by U2
I have climbed the highest mountain
I have run through the fields
Only to be with you
I have run
I have crawled
I have scaled these city walls
Only to be with you
I have kissed honey lips
Felt the healing in her fingertips
It burned like fire
This burning desire
I have spoke with the tongue of angels
I have held the hand of a devil
It was warm in the night
I was cold as a stone
I believe in the kingdom come
Then all the colors will bleed into one
Bleed into one
Well yes I'm still running
You broke the bonds and you
Loosed the chains
Carried the cross
Of my shame
You know I believed it
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for
But I still haven't found what I'm looking for...
