When you're weary, feeling small,
When tears are in your eyes, I will dry them all;
I'm on your side. When times get rough
And friends just can't be found,
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down.
With these words from Simon and Garfunkel, we are invited to
remember that even in our darkest times and greatest struggles, we are never
alone. While human beings can be fickle
and inconsistent, we do have a Divine Source that is ever present as a source
of comfort, healing and kindness. God is
here to hold us during our times of grief, to offer peace in times of chaos and
love in times of disappointment. God is
our bridge over troubled water. During
this time of frequent turbulence and upheaval, we are invited to ask ourselves
the following questions:
Do we have the
courage to remember to seek God in our times of trial?
Do we have the
courage to open our eyes to the ever-present God in our midst?
Do we have the
courage to set time aside to be open to remembering the love of God that holds
us, surrounds us and penetrates our very being?
Do we have the
courage to say yes to God's offer of peace, joy, abundance and love?
