A wise teacher once shared the following words with his
friends:
You are the light of the world.
A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and
then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives
light to all in the house. Just so, your
light must shine before others, that they may see the good that you are and in
that recognize the love of God. (Mt 5: 14-16)
Each and every one of us has been uniquely gifted to be
vessels through which the truth of peace, love and joy may be revealed in our
world. Unfortunately, each of us also
struggled with fears, false-perceptions and ego-attachments that prevent us
from recognizing, cultivating and sharing these gifts in the world. When we allow these fears and
false-perceptions to stand in the way of sharing our gifts in the world, we
deprive ourselves of the freedom and joy that comes in letting our light
shine. As we allow ourselves the
opportunity to name, claim, cultivate and share our gift, we realize the
promise that life has to offer. A life
lived within our giftedness is a life of joy. Connecting with our gift helps us
to find and cultivate peace. Sharing our
gift allows us to not only experience, but to reveal love in the world.
Our invitation this week is to reflect on the following
questions in an effort to be more mindful of naming, claiming and sharing our
gifts in the world:
1)
How have I
been open to naming, claiming and cultivating my own unique gifts?
2)
What are my
gifts and how am I sharing them?
3)
Are there
gifts I am not sharing and why?
4)
What are the
fears, false-perceptions or ego-attachments that may be standing in the way of
sharing my gifts?
5)
How can I be
open to seeking healing of these blocks?
Let your light shine!!!!!
