How long is that necklace?
Collar, 12"-13", is usually made up of 3 or more strands and lies snugly on the middle of the neck.
Choker, 14"-16", is the most versatile of all the single strand lengths. (See Deep in the Jungle)
Princess, 17"-19", complements low plunging necklines, looks great with pendants. Note that a heavy pendant will hang slightly longer. Also an 18" necklace hangs farther down on a petite woman. (See Silver Lining)
Opera, 28"-34", looks refined when worn as single strand for high or crew necklines. It can be doubled and serve as a 2-strand choker. Opera length pendants are unique and will compliment any outfit. (See The Good Earth, Deep Blue Sea) Rope or lariat, 38"+, is an elegant length and can be broken down into a multi-strand necklace or even a multi-strand bracelet. |

Dear Jewelry Fans,
This is my most heart-felt newsletter as it launches a new line of jewelry to benefit Breast Cancer Awareness, gdesign's cause of choice. This year I was happy to witness a dear friend's survival from breast cancer. While that was a joyous event, I couldn't help thinking that she was my 4th (!!) friend who had survived this ordeal. It was time for me to do something. So I created Breast Cancer Jewels, a line of jewelry which I will co-design with breast cancer survivors and donate 50% of the proceeds to the charity selected by the survivor.
This year's selection is Deb's Duo, a matching bracelet and earrings duo, co-created by my friend Deb with me. Deb got her clean bill of health this past winter and is going gangbusters. Deb has chosen to donate the money raised from the sale of Deb's Duo to the Reaching Out organization which she found helpful during her surgery and recovery.
In contrast to the limited editions of all my other jewelry, the Breast Cancer Jewels will have no limits on the number sold. I hope to sell many in order to give as much to the charitable organization as possible. Your help is greatly appreciated!

This year's Breast Cancer Jewels are Deb's Duo, a matching bracelet and earrings duo co-designed by my friend Deb, a recent breast cancer survivor. It was her determination and spirit that gave me the inspiration to create this line of jewelry. Thank you, Deb!
Deb favors clean lines so this bracelet and earrings duo starts with beautiful pale pink glass, the color of the Breast Cancer cause, as its foundation. The bracelet bauble has spirals winding around representing the loving arms that are supporting those who need it. The dots represent the many points of light that shine to give us hope.
The magical part is that the bauble seems to glow from within as the light is reflected within it. I think this represents the survivior's inner glow and spirit, an inspiration to us all. The hand-hammered sterling silver links are smooth and simple. The famous ribbon motif is used for both the bracelet clasp and the earrings dangles.

Swarovski crystal, behind the sparkle
Swarovski crystal is the most famous crystal in the world, prized for its sparkle and clarity and unique designs. It started when founder, Daniel Swarovski, invented a machine in 1892 that revolutionized the process of crystal cutting and founded the Swarovski company in Tyrol in Austria.
Making crystals first for chandeliers and then for figurines, the Swarovski company entered the jewelry and fashion business in 1977. Now a huge international success, Swarovski works with designers such as Dolce&Gabbana, Chanel and Louis Vuitton.
To mark the 100-year anniversary of the company, Swarovski built Krystallwelten, a crystallized fantasy world in Wattens, Austria which is now the 2nd most visited tourist attraction in Austria.
Swarovski has been responsible for many innovative designs in crystal including the Aurora Borealis effect, seen below in the beautiful shell component of the Crystal Ocean bracelet. 
The starfish and coral sprigs are also Swarovski crystals as are the colorful 'bubbles'.
