FishScaleTM beads, are gdesign's latest edition to its collection of uniquely designed glass beads.
Layers and layers of carefully placed opaque and transparent glass create a fishscale effect that mirrors many things in nature.
They are used in the Silver Lining trio necklace to capture the stormy gray and violet thunderclouds before a summer storm and also the puffy white clouds on that clear blue sky just after the storm vents its fury. Click here for more on FishScaleTM beads.

Dear Friends,
Spring has arrived! And not a moment too soon. Banish your winter blahs with the dazzling colors of spring and summer. gdesign's long-awaited Spring/Summer collection is here! Crystal blues, languid greens, soothing aquas, pastel pinks and lavenders, bright oranges and yellows. All are part of the theme of the 2009 Spring/Summer Collection: Nature in All its Glory.
The inspiration for the collection came from my observations of nature...sunlight glinting on ocean waves, the storm clouds just before a summer thunderstorm, the languid lagoons of Tahiti, the early spring garden during an easter egg hunt, and the fresh and fragrant blooms of lilacs and peonies in the spring. I tried to capture them here for you in my jewelry. I hope you love wearing them as much as I did designing them. Click here for the Spring/Summer collection. As always, email me anytime at info@gdesignontheweb.com, I love to hear what you have to say,
 gail zona, gdesign
P.S. Check out the new banner picture just above. It's the Deep in the Jungle trio from the Spring/Summer collection. See the tigers and zebras and giraffes peeking out from the jungle vines?

Chrysoprase, a "leeky" gemstone
Chrysoprase (KRIS-oh-praze) or chrysophase, is a gemstone variety of chalcedony (chowl-SED-oh-nee) that contains small quantities of nickel. Its color is normally a beautiful apple-green but it varies to dark green. Other members of this same mineral variety include agate, carnelian, and onyx. Unlike the others, though, it's the color, rather than the markings that make this gemstone unique. The word, chrysoprase comes from the Greek chrysos meaning gold and prason meaning leek.
Sources for chrysoprase are Australia, Germany, Russia, Brazil, and the US (Arizona and California), but the best known is lower Silesia in Poland.
Chrysoprase has been used for spiritual protection and victory. During early times, it was used for decorating chapels, including the famous Wenceslaus Chapel in Prague. In the 1800's, it was said to help thieves become invisible. Keep your chrysoprase out of sunlight as it can fade. Perhaps that's how it helped the thieves!
Chrysoprase is the predominant stone in the Spring Collection's Tahitian Lagoon.
