So can you wear jewelry with a v-neck?
....sure, just make sure it works with the v!....for a low v-neck, try a 'y' necklace where the dangle part fits nicely just above the v
...for a higher v-neck try a shorter necklace just bigger than a choker to make a nice frame for your face just above the v
....multiple strands in the necklace work well as does big chunky beads
....or a pendant on a long chain that hangs well below the v is also a good look...just make sure the chain isn't too busy.
Dear Friends,
What a very cold and snowy winter we are having. Good for thinking about jewelry and.......antiquing! My husband and I love to go antiquing in the winter months. To be sure, not all the shops are open but those that are have shop owners who are friendly and love to tell stories. He and I heard them all during our antiquing trip in January. Came back with some lovely vintages brooches and pendants that I couldn't wait to re-design into modern day pieces. And here they are in gdesign's first Vintage Collection!! Click here to see the Vintage Collection.
I found a wonderful silver and carnelian brooch that looks like it came back straight out of some Byzantine treasure chest. It cried out to be paired with lapis and malachite and silver chains. (See the Byzantine Treasure trio). And that funky 1930's Art Deco necklace looks like it was just made to be paired with Swarovski. (See the Art Deco Dangles duo). And then there is that precious heart with pearls that makes such a lovely bracelet (the Pink of Hearts duo) and the sterling filigree brooch that looks like magic with the inky blue pearls and iolite. (See the Night Magic duo).
But the most stunning piece I found was a vintage (40's, I think) pendant with a fabulous pink topaz. (See the Silver Screen Diva trio). I haven't seen anything like it before. It's guaranteed to stop people in their tracks. It just lights up a room and the face of the wearer. Check out the picture below and be sure to check out the entire collection of these one-of-a-kind pieces. You will love them!

| Announcing the Vintage Collection |
|

Introducing gdesign's very first Vintage Collection, one-of-a-kind jewelry crafted from vintage pieces updated to modern looks. gdesign takes vintage brooches, pendants, and other pieces of jewelry from yesteryear and combines them with Swarovski crystals, semi-precious gemstones, chains and wire sculptures to make unique, one-of-a-kind jewelry designs.
The featured trio is the Silver Screen Diva (picture on the left) with stunning pink topaz, and Swarovski crystals. The pendant is a detailed shield design, circa 1940's, in sterling silver, set with a eye-catching 14mmx10mm oval pink topaz. Vintage ruby crystals surround the topaz in the original piece and are picked up by ruby Swarovski crystals in the necklace chain. The earrings are pink topaz drops suspended from matching Swarovski crystals, and I designed a matching braclet to complement the necklace. A perfect trio to take center stage for the diva in you!
On the right is the necklace from the Night Magic duo. A silver filigree brooch paired with freshwater pearls and iolite gemstones is highlighted by sterling beads that look like stars twinkling in the night. I designed some hand-hammered earrings to pick up the filigree design in the brooch. It's a truly beautiful duo for that very special night out.
Don't forget to check out the Art Deco Dangles duo. (see pix below) From an original 1930's necklace, comes a wonderful duo with earrings and necklace sparkling with Swarovski crystals.

I hope you enjoy looking at this collection as much as I enjoyed creating it. Click here to see the entire collection.
Pink isn't the only color of topaz, you know
Pure topaz is colorless and transparent but is usually tinged by impurities. Typical topaz is straw yellow, pale gray or pink, but other colors are white, gray, pale green or blue. Yellow topaz is the traditional November birthstone and the symbol of friendship. Blue topaz is the December birthstone and very rare. Other colors of topaz are usually heat treated and irradiated to turn the topaz blue.

The name, 'topaz', is thought to be derived from the Sanskrit word 'tapas', meaning fire but more likely it came from the Island of Topazos in the Red Sea. Topaz are found all over the world including Texas and Utah.
Topaz is said to make the wearer clear-sighted, stronger, and give the wearer a feeling of joy. Pink topaz is the stone in the Silver Screen Diva pendant as well as the briolettes in the earrings.
