In her early library research on the subject, she was amazed to discover that the only material available was focused solely on women, as if only women have gender. The subsequent development of Gender Studies and Queer Theory provided a new context for Chicago's exploration of male behavior. ![]() Jonathan Katz Dr. Jonathan D. Katz, a leading proponent of Queer Theory, director of the Visual Studies Doctoral Program at SUNY Buffalo and president of the Board of Directors of the Leslie/Lohman Museum of Gay and Lesbian Art in New York, wrote the insightful catalog essay. He and Chicago will engage in a public conversation about PowerPlay — a series of monumental paintings, drawings, cast paper and bronzes, her first series created in Santa Fe — described by Dr. Katz as "prescient and powerful." |
