Greetings!
A few weeks ago, we had the
privilege of worshiping under the leadership of our children. This Sunday, our youth will lead us in
worship. Virginia Robinson will bring our message in both our services and we will
celebrate Holy Communion with our youth serving us! This is a wonderful time to invite your friends and
neighbors without a church home to hear the gospel as experienced by our youth!
For Paul, all theology ends with ethics. What that means is that for Paul what we believe about God-especially
God as revealed in Jesus on the cross-should make a difference in how we live
our lives. In this passage, Paul
shows some ways in which Christians should be different from those who do not
believe.
14 Bless those who
persecute you; bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who
rejoice; mourn with those who mourn. 16 Live in harmony with one
another Do not be proud, but be willing to associate with people of low
position. Do not be conceited. 17 Do not repay anyone evil
for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of
everybody. 18
If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19 Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written:
"It is mine to avenge; I will repay," says the LORD. 20 On the contrary:
"If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something
to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head." 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good. Romans 12:14-21 NIV
- How willing are you to mourn with those who
mourn and to associate with people of low position?
- What does it mean to bless those who
persecute you? What would that
look like in your daily life?
- What needs to change in your life in order
for you to live in peace with everyone?
- How does doing good to an enemy overcome
evil?
- Whom do you need to love and bless this week
even though he or she has hurt you?
Be sure and check out the news below and keep all the ministries
represented by these announcements in your prayers! I especially ask for your prayers for those affected by the
layoffs at the Christian Academy and for the Academy's board as they led the
Academy through some major changes. I also ask prayers for us as we seek to
fill the positions of church custodian and traditional choir director.
Have a great week and I look forward to seeing you on Sunday! |

Announcement of Changes at New Life Christian Academy July 12, 2010
As you are already aware, services provided by the New Life Christian Academy will be downsized and restructured when the new school year begins in August. The new structure will allow the Academy to concentrate on caring for pre-school children and providing age-appropriate Christian teaching. Care for infants and after-school care will terminate on August 6, 2010. Care for two through five year olds will continue with new and exciting activities focused on helping children reach their full potential through a hands-on approach to learning.
In addition to this change, the current Director of the Academy will be resigning upon the hiring and training of a new Director. An announcement will be published within the next few weeks to hire a new Director.
There are no plans to close the Academy. It is a valued ministry of our church. We are delighted to provide a safe and nurturing environment for the children of Grant. Please encourage your family and friends to consider sending their pre-school children (2-5 year olds) to our Academy.
We thank you for your patience during this transition and welcome suggestions and comments. Please feel free to contact the Academy Director, Mrs. Jamie Schrimsher, Chairman of the NLCA Board of Directors, Mrs. LaJune Rodgers, or Pastor Sherill Clontz, Pastor of New Life United Methodist Church. These individuals can be reached by calling the NLCA at 256-728-5330 or NLUMC at 256-728-2093. New Life Christian Academy Board of Directors
