DON'T FORGET! DAYLIGHT
SAVINGS TIME ENDS SUNDAY!!!
BE SURE AND SET YOUR CLOCKS
TO SPRING FORWARD!! |
|
Greetings!
As we reach the mid-point of the Lenten Season, we are also gearing up for some wonderful new ministries and activities. Be sure and check out the information about our Easter Sunrise service and our breakfast for the community as well as our new Shepherding ministry and Bible Study for 4th and 5th grade girls among others!
This week we will explore our commitment to inviting others to a relationship with Jesus Christ. Our Scripture is one of Jesus' parables found in the 22nd chapter of Matthew:
Once more Jesus spoke to them in parables, saying: 2"The kingdom of heaven may be compared to a king who gave a wedding banquet for his son. 3He sent his slaves to call those who had been invited to the wedding banquet, but they would not come. 4Again he sent other slaves, saying, 'Tell those who have been invited: Look, I have prepared my dinner, my oxen and my fat calves have been slaughtered, and everything is ready; come to the wedding banquet.' 5But they made light of it and went away, one to his farm, another to his business, 6while the rest seized his slaves, mistreated them, and killed them. 7The king was enraged. He sent his troops, destroyed those murderers, and burned their city. 8Then he said to his slaves, 'The wedding is ready, but those invited were not worthy. 9Go therefore into the main streets, and invite everyone you find to the wedding banquet.' 10Those slaves went out into the streets and gathered all whom they found, both good and bad; so the wedding hall was filled with guests. Matthew 22:1-10
This is the first part of a difficult parable, but I want to concentrate on verses 9 and 10 with the instructions of the king to his slaves: 9Go therefore into the main streets, and invite everyone you find to the wedding banquet.' 10Those slaves went out into the streets and gathered all whom they found, both good and bad; so the wedding hall was filled with guests.
· What would this parable suggest is the way to fill the Sanctuary of a church?
· In what ways, can we as a congregation and you as an individual live out the command to go into the main streets and invite everyone?
· How should we invite others? What should we tell them? What might compel them to decide that attending the banquet was more important than their business or their farm (see verse 3)?
See you on Sunday as we prepare to Invite Folks to a Relationship with Jesus Christ!

We need each of you to be praying to find out if God is leading you into this ministry.
The Shepherd Ministry will be making phone calls, visiting, and sending cards to members of our church family.
Each member will receive a list of approximately 8 to 10 families for which you will be responsible for keeping in touch with calls, visits, and/or sending cards.
