If the nasty weather or sickness has kept you from worship this month, remember we miss you and you are important to us!  See you Sunday!

Greetings!

This week we will explore God's usually scary call on our life.  In this passage we hear from the prophet Jeremiah who is genuinely surprised and overwhelmed by God's call to go and speak.

4Now the word of the Lord came to [Jeremiah] saying, 5"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations." 6Then I said, "Ah, Lord God! Truly I do not know how to speak, for I am only a boy." 7But the Lord said to me, "Do not say, 'I am only a boy'; for you shall go to all to whom I send you, and you shall speak whatever I command you, 8Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, says the Lord." 9Then the Lord put out his hand and touched my mouth; and the Lord said to me, "Now I have put my words in your mouth. 10See, today I appoint you over nations and over kingdoms, to pluck up and to pull down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant."  Jeremiah 1:4-10

·         Have you ever experienced a call from God?

o   What was it like?  Was it something you heard like Jeremiah? Something you saw like Moses? Or was it something you simply knew?

o   How did you respond?

o   Where you frightened?

o   Did you respond to the call?  Ignore it? Or did you simply put it off?

§  How did that feel?

§  What difference did that make in your relationship with God?

·         How does  Jeremiah respond?

o   How does God respond to Jeremiah's statement?

o   What difference does God's response to Jeremiah make in your own response to the call of God on your life?

See you Sunday!

Severe Weather Plan

Last year, we had snow on Sunday morning and a tornado shortly before our Good Friday services. Hopefully 2010 will be less eventful!  However, in case of severe weather, we will let you know if services are being cancelled in the following ways:

·         The church voice mail

·         The church website

·         Channel 48 news

Thank you to the church:

Thank you all so much for all of the wondeful things you all did for us this Christmas. You all are a very special group of Christians.

With Love,
Donald & Brenda Smith
