Greetings!
This Sunday, I will be at Camp Sumatanga working with Charlie Ayers on Emmaus Walk 361. Around 22 members of New Life are involved in the walk this week. Please keep the team in your prayers this weekend and pray that the men of Walk 361 experience the love and grace of God through their experience! We are privileged to have the Rev. Mike Morelan as our guest speaker this Sunday. Here is Mike's biography:
I was born at a very early age in southeastern Kansas. I have two younger sisters (one in Tulsa - one in Spring, Tx) We were raised in northeastern Oklahoma. I graduated from a satellite campus of Kansas State at Pittsburg, Kansas (now known as Pittsburg State University) with a BS degree in Applied Mathematics and Physics. I worked for B. F. Goodrich for 17 years as an industrial engineer. Worked for Rockwell International (Boeing) for 7 years as an engineer and finished my secular career as a NASA Certified Systems Engineer assigned to the Solid Rocket Booster Project (Space Shuttle Project). Called to preach/pastor last three years of NASA career. Retired from NASA. Now serving as associated pastor of Arab First United Methodist Church with emphasis on Congregational / Pastoral Care. I live in Morgan City just north of Arab with my wife Jeannie, three cats and a dog. Between the two of us we have nine children and 13 grandchildren. I like to be thought of as a child of God (John 1:12).
Mike's scripture this weekend is found in the book of Romans:
31 What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? 32 He who did not withhold his own Son, but gave him up for all of us, will he not with him also give us everything else? 33 Who will bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is to condemn? It is Christ Jesus, who died, yes, who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us. 35 Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written, "For your sake we are being killed all day long; we are accounted as sheep to be slaughtered." 37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:31-39
As we prepare for this Sunday and for Thanksgiving Day, I challenge you to name at least one thing each day for which you can thank God!

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY ANNOUNCEMENTS
ART AND CRAFTS SUPPLIES NEEDED. Children's ministry is in need of arts and crafts supplies. This may be a good time to clean out that closet. We can use just about anything for art projects. (artificial flowers, beads, crayons, paper, stickers, rubber stamps, etc)
CHILDREN'S BULLETINS ARE NOW AVAILABLE. These bulletins are biblically based, puzzles and games to reinforce each week's sermon. Which will actively involve children in worship. Available in the Narthex for ages 3-7 and 8-12. |

YOUTH ANNOUNCEMENTS:
YOUTH FUNDRAISING: For all youth fundraising events, youth will earn "points" based on their participation in fundraisers. Additionally, adults who volunteer to chair a fundraising event will receive "points" for the youth of their choice. Each point will be worth money towards youth retreats. Adults who want to chair a fundraiser, contact Milanda.
BEHOLD YOUTH RETREAT: We have 28 youth registered to attend BEHOLD, January 16-18th at Camp Sumatanga. Remaining balance per person is $100 and is due to Milanda by December 27th.
PUPPET TEAM On September 26th some of the youth attended a puppet workshop at Flint River Baptist Church in Hazel Green. The puppet team is excited by the great new ideas we got from the workshop. We want to develop our blacklight puppetry because we feel it will really reach the youth better. We will be doing a fundraiser to buy more black light puppets and lighting but these are expensive. So be looking for our fundraiser. |
