Greetings!
This week's lesson comes from the book of Hebrews:
24For Christ did not enter a sanctuary made by human hands, a mere copy of the true one, but he entered into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God on our behalf. 25Nor was it to offer himself again and again, as the high priest enters the Holy Place year after year with blood that is not his own; 26for then he would have had to suffer again and again since the foundation of the world. But as it is, he has appeared once for all at the end of the age to remove sin by the sacrifice of himself. 27And just as it is appointed for mortals to die once, and after that the judgment, 28so Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin, but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him. Hebrews 9:24-28
- The writer of Hebrews was not so much writing a letter as writing a sermon. What was the point the preacher was making in this passage?
- What difference does it make to know that Jesus died "once for all" to remove sin?
- The preacher reminds us that we all must die and to face judgment but that Christ will appear a second time "not to deal with sin, but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him."
o What does that say about the second coming of Christ? Should we fear it? Or anticipate it? o What does that say about the coming judgment? Should we fear it? Or anticipate it?
- If the price of sin has been fully paid for us, what should we do when we sin and fall short?
- What kind of life should we live if we truly believe what the preacher claims?
Also, don't forget to mark the following dates on your calendars!

CHILDREN'S MINISTRY ANNOUNCEMENTS
ART AND CRAFTS SUPPLIES NEEDED. Children's ministry is in need of arts and crafts supplies. This may be a good time to clean out that closet. We can use just about anything for art projects. (artificial flowers, beads, crayons, paper, stickers, rubber stamps, etc)
CHILDREN'S BULLETINS ARE NOW AVAILABLE. These bulletins are biblically based, puzzles and games to reinforce each week's sermon. Which will actively involve children in worship. Available in the Narthex for ages 3-7 and 8-12. |

Thanksgiving & Christmas Charities
New Life Church is making Thanksgiving baskets for the needy and will coordinate the Christmas on the Mountain again this year. If you know anyone who could benefit from either of these programs, please have them fill out an application. The applications for these programs are on the secretary's desk in the file folder titled "Out Reach Applications". You may turn in your completed applications to the church secretary or to Doris Wood (582-1341) or Sherry Sutphin (558-7315).

PUPPET TEAM On September 26th some of the youth attended a puppet workshop at Flint River Baptist Church in Hazel Green. The puppet team is excited by the great new ideas we got from the workshop. We want to develop our blacklight puppetry because we feel it will really reach the youth better. We will be doing a fundraiser to buy more black light puppets and lighting but these are expensive. So be looking for our fundraiser. |
