DON'T FORGET DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME ENDS SUNDAY!!!
BE SURE AND SET YOUR CLOCKS TO FALL BACK!

Greetings!
This week we will celebrate All Saints Sunday. As part of this worship service, we will light candles for those within our congregation who died this past year and lift up the names of those saints who have touched our lives.  We will also reflect on one of the beautiful images of the saints of God found in John's revelation:

9After this I looked, and there was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, robed in white, with palm branches in their hands. 10They cried out in a loud voice, saying, "Salvation belongs to our God who is seated on the throne, and to the Lamb!" 11And all the angels stood around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures, and they fell on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, 12singing, "Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and might be to our God forever and ever! Amen."
13Then one of the elders addressed me, saying, "Who are these, robed in white, and where have they come from?" 14I said to him, "Sir, you are the one that knows." Then he said to me, "These are they who have come out of the great ordeal; they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. 15For this reason they are before the throne of God, and worship him day and night within his temple, and the one who is seated on the throne will shelter them. 16They will hunger no more, and thirst no more; the sun will not strike them, nor any scorching heat; 17for the Lamb at the center of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of the water of life, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes."  Revelation 7:9-17
  • I'm often asked what we will do in heaven.  Based on this passage, what should the people of God expect in the next life?  Who should we expect to see there?
  • John is referring to the martyrs of the faith-people who gave their lives witnessing to their faith.  In fact, the word martyr comes from the Greek word which means witness.  This Sunday we will remember those saints who have touched our lives.  Not otherworldly saints but flesh and blood folks, just like us, who have witnessed to us about their faith in Christ.  What can we learn from those who have come before us?  How can we pass what we have learned from them to new generations?
  • If our job in heaven will be to sing praises to God, then how can we prepare for eternity now?
  • If we wish the Kingdom of God to be on earth as in heaven, what must we do so that folks no longer hunger, thirst or cry?  How can we witness to this vision of the next life in this life?
Also, don't forget to mark the following dates on your calendars!

PUPPET TEAM
On September 26th some of the youth attended a puppet workshop at Flint River Baptist Church in Hazel Green. The puppet team is excited by the great new ideas we got from the workshop. We want to develop our blacklight puppetry because we feel it will really reach the youth better. We will be doing a fundraiser to buy more black light puppets and lighting but these are expensive. So be looking for our fundraiser.
