Test me on this says the Lord Almighty
Malachi 3:10 "Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse so that there may be food in my house. Test me on this says the Lord Almighty and see if I will not open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it." ______________________________________________________ Well, I tested the Lord Almighty on that scripture and He came through. Several years back while doing homework for a Disciple Bible class, I stumbled upon the scripture above. I had never read it before. I was shocked to read the words "Test me on this says the Lord Almighty". I had never read ANYWHERE in the Bible that we should "test the Lord". In fact, I had been taught right the opposite: We are NOT to test the Lord. I re-read the passage several times and pondered over His promise to pour out blessings. God does not make empty promises. I knew that. If He says He will pour out blessings, then He will pour out blessings - simple as that. Right there, while doing my homework, I looked up to God and said out loud "OK Lord, I get it! From now on you will receive a full tithe (10%) of my little retirement check each and every month. (Up to this point, I had "given" money to the church - but not a full tithe.) At the time I made that commitment to God, I did not even think about what those blessings might be, I just made a blind promise to God that I was going to tithe from here on and the rest was up to Him. It is truly unbelievable, but within days of my commitment to tithe (even before my next retirement check was received) blessings began to fall out of the sky on my family. I kid you not. (I probably wouldn't believe this if it had not happened to me.) Some blessings were financial and some were not. I thanked God for each and every blessing, but it did not occur to me until much later that they were happening because I took God at His word and tested Him on tithing. After about three months had passed, it dawned on me what was happening. I actually wrote down the date that I made the commitment and listed the blessings and dates underneath. I was shocked and amazed. I cannot predict that God will respond so quickly and in such abundance to others who test Him on this scripture. All I can do is tell you my first hand experience. God keeps his promises and if you ever want to test Him, test Him on tithing! . Melinda Dixon | |
