Changes in Attitudes:  The Gospel and Jimmy Buffett

Join us this summer as we explore life's questions through the words and music of Jimmy Buffett.

Come in your summer clothes and invite your friends to join us.

This Week:  Come Monday

In "Come Monday," we hear the cry of a man waiting for the return of the woman who gives his life meaning and hope.  If he can hold out until Monday, then everything will be alright because she will be with him helping him cope.

At their best, our marriages and our family relationships give us a glimpse of what it means to have a deep relationship with God.
"I am the true vine, and my Father is the vinegrower. 2He removes every branch in me that bears no fruit. Every branch that bears fruit he prunes to make it bear more fruit. 3You have already been cleansed by the word that I have spoken to you. 4Abide in me as I abide in you. Just as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in me. 5I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing. 6Whoever does not abide in me is thrown away like a branch and withers; such branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned. 7If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask for whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8My Father is glorified by this, that you bear much fruit and become my disciples. John 15:1-8
  • Jesus says the word "abide" eight times in these eight verses.  What does the word "abide" mean to you?  What does it mean to abide in Jesus and for Jesus to abide in you?
  • Jesus says that when we abide in him (the vine), we will bear much fruit.  What do you think that fruit would look like?  Does your life exhibit the fruit of an abiding relationship with Christ?
  • What needs to be pruned from your life so that you might have a more intimate relationship with Christ?

See you on Sunday!
