Greetings!
If you have not yet participated in our Natural Church Development Focus Groups, please join us at 6:30 tonight to give your input! Everyone's input is important!
I missed seeing you in church on Sunday! I look forward to this Sunday's worship--consider this our first Sunday of March! And don't forget that the church needs your tithes and offerings on a snow day just as much as any other day!
PRAYER CHALLENGE FOR LENT!!!
For those who missed our Ash Wednesday service last week, you missed a real treat. Our praise team lead us in great music including Jim's wonderful bluesy version of Psalm 51! And I understand he is already at work on music for next year's service!
I also want to thank Eddie Kennamer and Denise Acker for sharing their testimonies. Sharing how God has worked in our life is a powerful part of our Methodist heritage and I look forward to hearing more of your stories!!
As part of preparing ourselves and our church for Easter, I am asking everyone to pray a two-fold prayer each day of Lent.
First, pray for our community!
Second, pray for God's direction in how God wants New Life to make a difference in the life of this community!
Pastor Sherill
And don't forget to spring forward Saturday night! |

Nursery workers needed
There is still a great need for volunteers in the nursery. Sunday, February 1, we were blessed to provide child care in both traditional and contemporary services. There are openings for traditional, Sunday school and contemporary. Please search your calendar for 1 hour on Sunday that you could commit to children ages birth to 3 years old. This nursery ministry is needed for parents, grandparents and our church growth. Please help by contacting Regina Filmore at rfilmore@mitchellgrocery.com, cell 572-8991, home 728-8877, or in person at church.
Matthew 19:14 Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." | |

Christian View of Sex for Middle School Youth and Their Parents
Mark you calendars for April 16-18 for this very important weekend!
The goals for this weekend are to help middle school youth, their parents and adult workers with youth to: 1. grow in their understanding of sex as an important part of the divine plan for human beings. 2. expand their knowledge of the physical and emotional facts about their sexuality and their sexual development through puberty, as the basis for developing positive attitudes. 3. discover and practice appropriate language and communication skills needed to talk meaningfully, both within the family circle and in other responsible settings, about sex, dating, love and marriage. 4. explore their attitudes toward themselves, especially toward the sexual dimensions of their lives. 5. understand some of the range of possibilities of personal lifestyles and modes of relating to other people. 6. explore some of the attitudes which govern their interactions with other persons who relate to them In various ways (i.e. Parents, Peers). 7. understand the meaning of the teenager's emergence from parental controls and his assuming responsibility for his own freedom. 8. examine the standards youth and adults choose as the guidelines for their lives, from among the many choices made available today by our culture 9. choose for themselves guidelines for sexual and interpersonal behavior which reflect the best ethical thinking of the Christian community.

SUMMER CAMP, SUMMER CAMP, WHO IS GOING TO SUMMER CAMP!!!!!
All ages are eligible to attend summer camp and it is a blast! The cost this year for campers to attend is $275, for a week of fun, excitement and exploring God's Word and growing in a relationship with Him! Not to mention all the friends you make! Day campers (Pre-K thru 3rd grade) is $100 and Mom-n-Me is $90 so you can see there is quite an expense. Placemats and Cookie Bake for Kairos
Eddie Kennamer will be working Kairos #15 at Elmore County Prison in Montgomery at the end of the month. He has asked that all of the youth & children make place mats for the prisoners. The 42 prisoners will be served 3 meals a day on Friday March 27th & Saturday March 28th & then some. It would also be great if each group (Elem & Youth) could make an agape poster for them to hang up. I will also be having a cookie baking night on Wed March 25th for the Jr & Sr High youth. We will be using the tubes of ready cookie dough if anyone would like to donate any or some money to help purchase the cookie dough & some ziploc bags. (Remember, no cookies with fruit or sugar topping). Thanks, Sharna Kennamer!
