Greetings!
A Friend in Need helps children orphaned by AIDS. Please consider making a National AIDS Day donation today.
World AIDS Day is important in reminding people that HIV has not gone away, and that there are many things still to be done. According to UNAIDS estimates, there are now 33.4 million people living with HIV, including 2.1 million children.

World AIDS Day is about raising money, increasing awareness, fighting prejudice and improving education.

A Friend in Need is committed to helping children in Swaziland orphaned by AIDS. Swaziland has the highest adult HIV prevalence in the world, leaving approximately 56,000 orphans in this small country to parent themselves. Forty percent of the population is under the age of fifteen.

For two days, A Friend in Need co-founder Heather Bliss and I walked the mountain of Kapunga Swaziland visiting children orphaned by AIDS. Some orphans are fortunate to have grandparents caring for them, but most are cared for
by older siblings who are just children themselves. These children literally scrape by, at times getting their only nurishment from leaves or scrapes found on the mountain.

Once again, A Friend in Need wants to do more than just a handout. We are planning to build a multipurpose building that will serve as a work space, gathering place, and safe haven for the children.

The building will also house 5 donated sewing machines where volunteers can sew goods to be sold for money. The money will be used to buy food for the orphans.

Please prayerfully consider making a donation to our Swaziland project and help those children orphaned by AIDS. We have raised 1/3 of our goal so far. The building will cost about $24,000 but as little as $19 will help provide a door frame, $64 a window frame and glass, even a few dollars will help us work towards our goal.
