A Season to be Thankful
Greetings!
I want to take a moment to let you know how thankful I am for all the support A Friend in Need has received. For me, it's easy to get caught up in the craziness of the holiday season. I almost need to schedule time to stop, relax, and reflect on the many blessings I have to be thankful for.
I am so thankful for all of the support A Friend in Need has received this year. Through your generosity, we have been able to:
- Award the Friends of the Future Scholarship to a local high school senior, dedicated to
using her post high school education to help the lives of others,
- Supply backpacks filled with school supplies to needy children in Southeastern
Wisconsin,
- Fulfill our mission to secure the future of humanity by traveling to South Africa and
Swaziland to witness first hand the devastating effects of AIDS and researching how
A Friend in Need can help,
- Raise 1/3 of the funds to start our multi-purpose room in Swaziland to help the children
orphaned by AIDS.
While visiting the children of Swaziland, I was reminded just how much I have to be thankful for; like clean drinking water, food, shelter, access to health care, and education. It's easy to forget that there are so many people less fortunate. Below is a story of 984 orphans in Swaziland with nothing but one woman determined to help.

984 Orphans And a woman named Nomsa
Once upon a time in a land far, far away there was a mountain. And on this mountain lived 984 orphans. There were 984 orphans and one woman who cared for them, a woman named Nomsa. It seems unimaginable that one woman could care for almost a thousand children, doesn't it? However, this is a true story. When we visited Swaziland earlier this year we saw first hand this incredible story and met a true heroine, Nomsa. We knew we had to do something to help - to let Nomsa know she is not alone. To let her know there are others who care about these precious orphans.
In this land far, far away, imagine that there can be a building with 5 donated sewing machines and volunteers sewing items to be sold for income. The volunteers will use this income to provide food for the orphans. They will be able to continue to sew and generate income to purchase future sewing materials and most importantly, food and necessities for the orphans.
A Friend in Need is helping to build Nomsa's orphans this much needed multipurpose building which will serve as a work space, gathering place, and safe haven for the orphans.
Please prayerfully consider helping us with this project. As little as $19 will help provide a door frame, $64 a window frame and glass, $23,586 for the complete project.
