Hello NAPO-DFW!

I hope you're having a wonderful, restorative, and relaxing summer, spending time with family, friends, and maybe even a colleague or two. As a relative newcomer to Texas, I can honestly say that the summer heat is a bit trying, but other than the months of "Blast Furnace", Texas makes it really easy to fall out of love with your snow shovel. In other words, I love it here!

As summer rolls along, I've been thinking about relationships of all kinds and it makes me wonder what it means for NAPO-DFW to be in relationship with you. What do you want NAPO-DFW to do for you? When you come to a meeting, what are your expectations? Are there ways we can better support you and your business? Are you craving a way to get involved with other organizers to benefit your community? We need your answers to these questions.

The Board of Directors is in the process of developing a membership survey that will capture your feedback and enable us to give you a sense of ownership in the NAPO-DFW Chapter. Look for it sometime in the Fall.

We crave your active presence and input. Come to the meetings, sign up, be a "buddy" for a visitor or new member, be on a committee, share your ideas for outreach to the community. As Barbara Hemphill says, "Together we are better!"

Please feel free to contact me at [email protected].

The Buddy Program

As our President mentioned in the last newsletter, one of our goals this year is to build our membership base and to create a collegial atmosphere at our events for both our newcomers and veterans. We recently implemented the Buddy Program to support this goal. Participating in the Buddy Program is not only a great way to become involved, but also a great way to meet colleagues interested in our field.

If you would like more information about being a Buddy, e-mail me at [email protected] and I'll be happy to let you know what is involved.

Shelf Genie DFW

Who is ShelfGenie? ShelfGenie is the ONLY nationwide company designing, building, and installing custom pull-out shelving solutions into existing cabinets. We are a National Association of Professional Organizers' industry partner and received their Best Home Organizing Award two years in a row.

Where are your products made? Andrew Kerwin began ShelfGenie in 2000 working out of his parents' garage. Today our solutions are built right here in Dallas, Texas. It's a pleasure to offer a product that's made in America.

What makes your product special? ShelfGenie Glide-Out shelves are custom-designed, built, and installed storage solutions for existing cabinets. They come with a lifetime warranty.

What is the ShelfGenie process? Each client receives a FREE in-home consultation with one of our trained designers. When a client makes a purchase, one of our company-certified installers calls within 48 hours to schedule a field measurement. Four to six weeks after the field measurement, the same installer contacts the client to arrange a convenient installation date and time. 98% of our installations take less than a day because we do most of the finish work before we get to the house. ShelfGenie handles each step of the design and install process. There is no need to find a handyman who may or may not know how to install pull-out shelves.

How can I work with ShelfGenie? There are several ways you can work with ShelfGenie.

  1. Become a referral partner and refer your clients. You will receive a 10% commission on the net sale. You have the option of giving your referral commission to your client if you desire.
  2. Become a ShelfGenie designer with the option of running company-generated appointments. This is a great way to generate additional income and productively fill some of your down time. You indicate your daily availability on an on-line calendar. By running company-generated appointments, you have the potential to earn up to 14% commission on each sale.
  3. Become a ShelfGenie designer with the option of self-generated appointments. This is a great option as you are really referring both the customer AND the design. By self generating your appointments, you have the potential to earn up to 24% commission on each sale. With an average sale of about $2,000, that's $480 per referral!

What is the main benefit of becoming a ShelfGenie designer?  Each time you run a company- or self-generated appointment, you are welcomed into a home where the homeowner is proactively looking for home improvements. You are allowed to discuss and promote your other business during the appointment. Feel free to include your business literature as part of our leave-behind package.

For more information, please call our General Manager, John Herrington at (214) 586-3341, or email him at [email protected].
