2010-2011 Annual Board of Directors Strategy Meeting President Report

Trish Lengen, President
Trish Lengen, President
June 24, 2010 - This year, Jenny Bair, owner of Living Well Dallas and founding member of NAPO-DFW, facilitated this lively and eventful meeting attended by current and past board. Together with the chapter survey feedback we received, we discussed at length the strengths and growth opportunities for our chapter!

A primary goal of the meeting was the determination of our core values and how to use them. With each meeting and event we will aim to fulfill each of these core values to provide quality service to our organizers' growing businesses and our local communities.

Core Values
- Encouraging the Individual
- Promoting the Chapter
- Representing our industry

In planning our future goals, your feedback from the Annual Member Survey provided us with great information regarding what the corporate and chapter members have in mind for this and future years to come. Based on your feedback and requests we will:

1. Continue researching a new location(s) for our monthly meeting.
2. Provide networking opportunities among our members while keeping an educational focus.
3. Host more educational meeting focused on social media to market our businesses.
4. Continue participating in GO Month with activities and workshops for members and the public.
5. Promote opportunities for members volunteer for "small circle" committees.
6. Repeat our top 3 attendance activities at your request: Members Only Roundtable; Organizing for a Living and Social Media/Shape up Your Website.

As always, if you have any other feedback for your board, you may email me directly at [email protected].

Your Board of Directors looks forward to another great year of serving you!

July Chapter Meeting Recap

July's chapter meeting was a great time for networking and to hear three board members share their learning's from this year's conference. Attending a national conference gives you the chance to meet organizers from all over the country - and even places further away like Portugal, the Netherlands, and Australia.

Networking opportunities included the First Timers' Orientation for new conference attendees, lunch seating by geography or Special Interest Groups (SIGS), and a wild team event through the Expo Hall called The Amazing Race: NAPO. Our panel also talked about the fabulous keynote speakers like Gina Schreck of Getting Geeky.com who talked about technology tools, and Monica Wafford who closed the conference with "Inspire: Contagious Confidence". Of course, a majority of conference time is spent attending a diverse array of workshops led by talented and successful leaders in our own industry. Some of our personal favorites were "The Worst You've Ever Seen" (NGSCD Clutter Hoarding Scale), "Organizing Tools on the Web", and "Go from Hourly Pricing to Package Pricing".

If you missed the 2010 Conference, you can always order CDs or MP3 files of the individual workshops on napo.net. Our DFW Chapter sells CDs from prior years' conferences for only $5.00. (Contact me directly at [email protected] if you want to shop the available titles.)

We hope to see as many DFW Chapter members as possible next April. Join us for the NAPO 2011 Conference in San Diego!
June Bunco Night!
Cita Sue Cox, Membership Director
Cita Sue Cox
In lieu of our regular NAPO-DFW chapter meeting, we had a "social" in June at my home. Thank you so much for all of you that fought the rush hour traffic and drove all the way to Flower Mound
to attend. We ate, played Bunco, played Left-Right-Center, and a couple of us went home with more money in our pockets than we came with!! We had a relaxing evening getting to know each other better -- that's for sure! Be sure to check out our photos on facebook!

Here's a great idea for folks that want to de-clutter their home but are mindful of not adding to the landfill. Be the first in your neighborhood to host a Shop for SWAPS Party. The concept is simple -
you trade (or swap) your unwanted items for those belonging to your friends and neighbors. And voila, your trash becomes someone else's treasure! Click here to read more!
