Q. When I take a photo with my digital camera, there is a time lag. If my subject moves, I have missed the shot. Why is this and is there anything I can do to speed it up?   featured product

Good Question! Despite how great digital cameras can be, this is one of the major complaints. The reason you are experiencing this is because the digital camera is not only taking the shot, but it is taking into account the necessary light, speed, aperture, as well as identifying the subject and area of focus. This is a good thing, expect for how long it takes - causing you to miss that perfect shot. There are a few measures that you can take to ensure you get the shot you intended.

Use the half-click option
• Pressing down half-way on your shutter button will allow your camera to focus and adjust all settings
• Wait until your shot is right and finish pressing

Make sure your batteries are charged
• It sounds silly, but keeping a charged battery
    will reduce the delay
• It doesnt hurt to keep a spare

Try the "continuous" or "burst" setting
• In this setting, the camera continues to shoot as long as you hold the shutter down - perfect for getting that dunk shot or the birthday candles being blown out
• This setting is usually disabled in the automatic setting, you can usually enable it in the manual setting - see your owners guide.
