SCRAP Workshop: Making
Dreams Collage
Saturday,
April 10 1p-4p Presenter:
Janell Moon
If you are interested in
working more deeply with images and the imagination, this collage workshop is
for you! Please join artist and
author Janell Moon for an afternoon rich with discovery and learning.
In this workshop you will be using cardboard or any flat
backing for the "dream body" and papers, fabric and found items to
glue on this surface. You will
learn how to unify a collage so it is fun to do, work as a piece of art
and
stretch your imagination. In
addition, guided by Janell, you will learn how the objects and images
you
choose have meaning-making potential for you. You can bring images that
you
want to make central to a dream or find something at SCRAP that
resonates for
you. You will leave with as many as three collages with flat surfaces or
surfaces
for shadow boxes.
About
Janell
Janell
is the author of ten books of poetry and spiritual nonfiction.
She
a trained hypnotherapist and uses collage work for both meditation and
as a
channel for creativity. Janell
runs a dream group and The Making Dreams Collage Workshop is a variation
of this, giving participants an opportunity to chose images and later,
if they
wish, write about what they have made and how it relates to their lives.
Janell has a memoir coming out in the fall of 2010 titled, Salt and
Paper, by
RAW ArT PRESS, written in fragments, which tells the story of a full,
creative
life.

SCRAP Workshop: Jewelry
Boards Saturday April 24, 1p-4p Presenter: Cynthia Eagleton Join artist Cynthia
Eagleton to learn how to use scrap wood, nails and hooks to create beautiful
jewelry boards. Cynthia's jewelry
boards are beautiful, useful objects created from recycled materials. When complete, these jewelry boards are
one of a kind gift to give, or artwork for you to use for your own jewelry
organization. You'll use
paint, paper and odds and ends from SCRAP. This workshop engages, what Cynthia refers to as the "two
eyes of art", vision and craft. You will leave this workshop with a great gift
for Mother's Day and have fun turning junk into beauty and creating
organization out of chaos!
About Cynthia
Cynthia is an artist who
has worked in film, video, collage, paint, jewelry, assembly,
writing, and performance. She has taught art, writing, ESL, movement, and
Parent Ed to folks age 1 to 92. In addition to being an artist, Cynthia's
life as a single parent has sharpened her appreciation for the marriage of form
and function. An object that both makes her life easier and
soothes or stimulates her spirit makes her happy. Jewelry boards are
an example of this. Cynthia says,
"My life, both creatively and professionally, has been water poured in
and out a series of vessels. The form has varied but the spirit remains
the same. I'm interested in themes of healing, beauty, and pattern, and
for me, these three things are somehow all the same."
