A Note from the Director
"Community is a broad vision for campus life
that allows all groups and individuals to learn, grow, and develop to
their best potential in a challenging yet safe environment. Community begins with good communications, where we speak and listen to
each other openly and honestly. It requires both courage and patience
as we learn to confront, understand, and accept differences in cultures
and experiences." - ACUI

Beat Auburn Beat Hunger
Beat Auburn Beat Hunger is an annual event that was created by the
Community Service Center and West
Alabama Food Bank in 1994. During the four weeks leading up to the Iron Bowl,
students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members "fight" hunger
and poverty in West Alabama by challenging Auburn University and the
Food Bank of East Alabama to see who can collect more non-perishable
food to help needy Alabama families have a happier and healthier
holiday season.
Since 1994, The University
of Alabama has collected over 1 million pounds of food for the West
Alabama Food Bank. Together our two universities have raised an
astounding 2,131,423 pounds of food to support Alabama's citizens who
regularly do not have enough to eat.
Last
year we collected over 270,000 pounds of food, which was an all time
record in the competition. This year, we can do it again to beat hunger
and again BEAT AUBURN!!! |
