| Important Reminder To Taxpayers |
| FINAL NOTICES: 12,625 final notices were mailed out on October 17, 2008 to those taxpayers that have not paid their 2007 taxes in full.
PUBLICATION: Legal publication will occur for those that have not paid their 2007 taxes by November 4, 2008. The publication will be in local papers on November 13 & 14, 2008.
CERTIFIED FUNDS: Starting November 10, 2008 all payments must be made by certified funds, cashiers check, money orders or cash. No personal checks.
CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS: November 19, 2008 is the last day to pay by credit card on the internet. Discover Card only is accepted in our office until Wednesday, November 26, 2008.
LOCAL BANKS: After the 2nd installment, payments are not accepted at local banks.
AVOID TAX SALE: The last day for payment to avoid the yearly tax sale is Wednesday, November 26, 2008.
We have had hundreds of taxpayers that forgot about the 2nd installment payment. This e-mail notification is an excellant tool for taxpayers to receive important reminders. |
| What is the Tax Sale |
| By Illinois State Statutes the County Treasurer is required to hold an annual sale to sell all unpaid TAXES. We do not sell the property, we sell the taxes. The homeowner of record has at least 2 1/2 to 3 years from the date of the sale to redeem the taxes through the County Clerks Office.

As of October 20, 2008:
- $1,866,991,013.69 collected and distributed
- 96.9563% percent of extension
- -0.73% change from last year

| As you receive your 2008 Blue Assessment Cards, should you disagree with the assessment, please remember that you have 30 days to file a complaint with the Board of Review.
