This exhibit has it all! New Harmonies offers exploration and interaction for everyone and covers the history of a wide range of musical styles.    

New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music  

 

New Harmonies is the story of people in a New World, places they have left behind and ideas they have brought with them. It is the story of people who were already here, but whose world is remade. Their music tracks the unique history of many peoples reshaping each other into one incredibly diverse and complex people -- Americans. Don't miss this special exhibit! 

   

Our monthly Lunch & Learn and Community Voices programs for October have been designed as a way to connect locally with this exhibit. More info on those programs can be found below in the "Events for Adults" section below.

The Deadwood Songbooks are the result of research by Hank Harris in cooperation with the Adams Museum through a grant from the South Dakota Arts Council. Harris extensively researched music from Deadwood's gold camp days, capturing the music of an era in A Deadwood Songbook I and A Deadwood Songbook II -- compilations of the music researched

The Rapid City Libraries Foundation has invited Evans to present at The Dahl Fine Arts Center on Saturday, October 27 at 7 p.m. There will be a Wine and Tapas Reception with the author starting at 4 p.m. at the Vertex Skybar,
followed by a catered pre-event reception at the Downtown Rapid City Public Library at 5:30. Immediately following the author talk, there will
be a dessert reception at The Dahl at 8 p.m.

 

Ticket packages are for sale through the Rapid City Public Libraries Business Office.

Prices are as follows:
Author Talk - $30 ($15 for students)
Author Talk & Dessert - $40 ($25 for students)
Wine & Tapas, Author Talk, Dessert - $75.

The Rapid City Public Library has served the Rapid City area since 1879 and now offers two library locations.  Both offer print and electronic resources for adults, young adults and children as well as computers and internet access and a variety of programs and events.  In early 2008, USA Today selected the Rapid City Public Library downtown as one of the nations 10 greatest places to "Find a Nook and Read a Book."
