Find out how valuable your library card is!
September is National Library Card Sign-Up Month and we have a goal to meet! Mayor Kooiker has set a goal for RCPL of 1,000 new or renewed library cards to area residents during the month of September 2011.
When you sign up or renew a card you will be entered into a drawing for prizes, including a refurbished iBook computer from Computer Village, 4 tickets to see a Rush game, a museum quality fossil replica from the Museum of Geology and tickets to the Americana MusicFestival provided by The Dahl Arts Center.
Local businesses are partnering with us in September to offer special promotions, prizes and discounts for anyone who shows their library card while at the business! Be sure to check out our display of Read Posters at RCPL Downtown.

Sandra Brannan Author Talk

Local author Sandra Brannan will discuss her latest book, "Lot's Return to Sodom" the sequel to her earlier novel, "In the Belly of Jonah."
Books will be available for sale. (no credit cards please)
After living in Wyoming, Washington, D.C., Washington state, and Colorado, Sandra Brannan returned to her hometown in South Dakota. She enjoys working with relatives in the mining business; living in the Black Hills with her husband, Joel; smiling with pride over the journeys taken by her four sons; doting over her three grandchildren; and appreciating all of life's blessings, too many to count. Sandra's forthcoming titles in her Liv Bergen mystery thriller series are, Widow's Might and Noah's Rainy Day.

The Rapid City Public Library has served the Rapid City area since 1879 and now offers two library locations. Both offer print and electronic resources for adults, young adults and children as well as computers and internet access and a variety of programs and events. In early 2008, USA Today selected the Rapid City Public Library downtown as one of the nations 10 greatest places to "Find a Nook and Read a Book."
