H.O.P. Light and Color at RCPL in April 2011HOP"Light & Color" Exhibit
at RCPL Downtown in April!

This exhibit is extremely pleasing to the eye with it's sophisticated design and colorful displays. The exhibit includes over 15 hands-on activities and is geared for children of all ages, their parents, caregivers and teachers.
The "Light & Color" exhibit is courtesy of the Hands-On Partnership for Science, Literature and Art (H.O.P) in South Dakota in partnership with the YMCA 21st Century programs and the Rapid City Public Library.

* Any entry over 50 lines will be discarded.

* Any poet who submits more than one poem will be disqualified.

Winners will be announced at the Poets Coffeehouse at the Rapid City Public Library. Participants are not required to be present to win. However, winning entries will be read at the Coffeehouse either by the author or a member of HPW.

Submissions become the property of High Plains Writers and may
be used in HPW promotions. Authors retain all other rights.

booksLinda Daugaard, wife of South Dakota governor Dennis Daugaard, will be visiting General Beadle Elementary School & RCPL North to promote literacy and libraries to students with a question and answer session afterwards. Students will also have the opportunity to hear her read some of her favorite stories.

The Rapid City Public Library has served the Rapid City area since 1879 and now offers two library locations.  Both offer print and electronic resources for adults, young adults and children as well as computers and internet access and a variety of programs and events.  In early 2008, USA Today selected the Rapid City Public Library downtown as one of the nations 10 great places to "Find a Nook and Read a Book."
