10 Resolutions the Library Can Help With
The new year is upon us. It is a perfect time to reflect on the past year and plan for the coming year. As you put your New Year's resolutions into motion consider the resources available at the library. Here are 10 resolutions the library can help you with:
- Learn a foreign language with Mango Languages. This online language learning system offers 21 languages to choose from.
- Trace your family tree with HeritageQuest and AncestryLibrary (accessible at either library location). Both are comprehensive genealogical research tools.
- Start using your eReader with Overdrive. The library offers a large selection of eBooks.
- Learn something new at library programs. From photography to leadership and gardening, the library has something for everyone.
- Commit to a healthier lifestyle with Alt Health Watch and Consumer Health Complete. Learn about the latest trends in health and wellness with these online resources.
- Read more with books from either library location. Picking up books is quick and easy with Request It. Search the online catalog, find an item, and click "Request It." The staff will pull the book and email you when it is ready to pick up.
- Plan for the Future with Gale LegalForms. You will find forms to help you with estate planning, wills, power of attorney, and more.
- Spend quality time with a child at library weekly and monthly story times and using Tumblebooks-online, interactive books for children.
- Start a new career with Learning Express Library and Universal Classroom. These resources offer online classes and tests in a variety of areas.
- Learn about Rapid City's History with Knowledge Network, DUSEL wiki and the 1972 Flood webpage and wiki. These sites are the result of the Library's goal of collecting, preserving and sharing community memories and information.

New! Language Learning Program for Childen
The Rapid City Public Library is now offering a new interactive online version of the popular Little Pim language learning series for our younger patrons. Little Pim is an award-winning program designed specifically to introduce foreign languages to young children. It offers a fun, easy and effective way for children to learn a foreign language.
Little Pim stars a lovable animated panda and features native speakers, varied activities and concept groupings to make the language learning process easy. Lessons incorporate words and activities that are relevant to a child's daily life, making the content more fun and usable. Themes include mealtime, morning routines and playtime. Each lesson includes a practice quiz designed to increase a child's comprehension and retention of the language.
The series is available in ten foreign languages including Spanish, French, Mandarin Chinese, Italian, Japanese, Hebrew, English/ESL, German, Russian and Arabic.

 Take Online Classes Towards a New Career or Hobby
Universal Class offers over 500 online continuing education courses. Learn to Speak German, Turkish, French and More
Mango Languages is an online language-learning system that teaches practical conversational language skills. Lessons incorporate interactive tools and imaginary elements to keep users engaged.
Mango Languages is available in 21 of the world's most popular languages, including: Spanish, French, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, German, Russian, Mandarin Chinese, Japanese, Greek, Arabic (Leventine), Farsi, Pashto, Urdu, Turkish, Hebrew, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, Tagalog, Hindi and Irish. In addition, Mango Languages offers 14 English as a second language courses.

The Rapid City Public Library has served the Rapid City area since 1879 and now offers two library locations. Both offer print and electronic resources for adults, young adults and children as well as computers and internet access and a variety of programs and events. In early 2008, USA Today selected the Rapid City Public Library downtown as one of the nations 10 great places to "Find a Nook and Read a Book."
