 Teen Tech Week March 7-13
Learn, Create, Share @ Your Library is the theme for Teen Tech Week which takes place March 7-13. In celebration of the week, the library is having a film production workshop, a YouTube film contest and a film premiere.
To kick the week off, teens are invited to a workshop on March 5 to learn how to produce a short film for YouTube. The workshop will take place from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the downtown library and 1 to 2:30 at the north library.
 Then, teens in grades 6th through 12th, whether at the workshop or not, have through March 10 to submit a 5 minute or less film in two categories: Learn, Create, Share @ Your Library or book trailers.
At the Teen Tech Week Film Premiere on Friday, March 12 at 7 p.m. all entries will be featured and prizes for the top three winners in each category will be awarded. Food and refreshments will be a part of the festivities and the public is invited.

Story Time Punch Cards Coming in March
Starting in March, children can earn books by attending Baby Bookworms, Book Buddies and Family Story Times. For every 10 Story Times a child attends he or she will earn a free book.
It's easy kids! Get a Story Time punch card at the first Story Time you go to starting in March. Bring the card with you and have it punched by the storyteller at each Story Time. Once you have 10 punches, turn your card in and pick out a free book. For every card you fill, you will be entered into a drawing for a grand prize! |
Go Figure! All March Long
Enter a kids-sized world of life-sized books at the downtown library all March long. Go Figure!, a hands-on exhibit by the Hands-On Partnership for Science Literature, Science and Art in South Dakota, brings the exciting world of math and its everyday uses. The hands-on exhibit transforms children's books into a kid-sized world where children and adults can have fun exploring math with familiar characters such as Arthur, Frog and Toad, and the Three Bears. Each of the five colorful larger-than-life books in the exhibit includes a math-related activity such as measuring, weighing, or sorting, along with labels to guide parents.

 Meet Mystery Author C.J Box
Tickets going fast! Get yours today! The Rapid City Library Foundation is pleased to present award-winning author C.J. Box as the speaker at its annual author dinner on Saturday, March 27. Box is the author of 11 novels including the Joe Pickett series.
The evening will start at 6 p.m. with a social hour and book signing at the library featuring the music of James and Callan Van Nuys, followed by a 7 p.m. dinner and author talk at The Dahl. Tickets are $50 per person or $300 for a reserved table for 6. Seating is limited. You may buy your tickets today at the downtown library's business office, call 394-4171 to reserve tickets or visit the Foundation's website to reserve tickets online. |

The Rapid City Public Library has served the Rapid City area since 1879 and now offers two library locations. Both offer print and electronic resources for adults, young adults and children as well as computers and internet access and a variety of programs and events. In early 2008, USA Today selected the Rapid City Public Library downtown as one of the nations 10 great places to "Find a Nook and Read a Book."
