FOTLExciting News from the Friends
by Pat McKay, Friends of the Library President

The Friends of the Library recently received a generous bequeath of $50,000 from a local family. The Friends of the Library are an
association of persons interested in the Rapid City Public Library and the service it provides to the community.  Their mission is to help focus positive public attention on library services, facilities and needs while also promoting public use and enjoyment of the Library's facilities.

Currently the Friends of the Library help to support several of our programming events as well as supplying catering services.  The Friends support aided the Dan O'Brien book signing and reception to be held at the Downtown location on May 8th.  And they continually fund the Sunday Selections and Lunch and Learn programs.  We can also thank the Friends for the plastic bags that patrons can use when checking out as well as amenities provided to the public meeting rooms.

In addition the Friends of the Library also run an annual book sale and remain active in volunteering at the library.
