WorkForceInitiativeRapid City Public Library Launches Work Force Initiative - Greta Chapman RCPL Director

Greta ChapmanIn times of economics crisis, libraries are a necessity for job searching, access to educational options, recreation and connecting with the community.   The library offers resources online and face-to-face for those affected by  our  economic times.
The public's demand for library services continues to grow in new directions because of these needs. Both libraries provide computers, internet access, downloadable books (for your  MP3 or iPod) and traditional services. New materials continue to be added in the employment services, resume writing, interview skills and professional development area. RCPL is also launching a Workforce Initiative to address the needs of those seeking employment. The SD Department of Labor and SDSM&T Career Center are initial partners that will offer a series of monthly classes in resume development, interviewing skills and online resources for resume posting, job search websites and career counseling.  Classes are available at no charge to the public and will begin in April with times and locations to be posted on the RCPL website.

When you visit our homepage, be sure to notice the new link to a community employment resource page that includes links to various employment assistance agencies and a community calendar of services.

As people navigate through changes, their library is a reliable resource to turn to . Visit us online at www.rapidcitylibrary.org for 24/7 librarian on call with "Ask a Librarian"; call 394-4171 or visit Downtown or at RCPL North at General Beadle School at 10 Van Buren Street.
