Pet Skin Problems and

Vet tip of the month
Tub Dogs

Many of us have been told that it is a mistake to bathe our pets too often, because it causes drying of the skin.

However, animals with skin problems often need baths several times a week in a medicated shampoo to reduce the bacterial load on their skin, reduce irritation and inflammation and provide a low cost, effective form of relief.  If you have a rash, scab, infection, or injury to your skin, you don't have much question about what to do -- you keep it clean! The same is true for dogs and cats.

Your animals will feel better, smell better, and heal
faster if their skin is kept clean.

However, in
the case of cats, they may not be happier -- bathing is not usually on their list of favorite activities!

The Wizard of DogsAsk Muggs
 The Wizard of Dogs

Dear Muggs,

Sometimes, I just feel like going out to the yard to graze on the grass.   My mom and dad go nuts when I do that.  Okay, so maybe it does make me throw up once in a while.  Since I can't talk can you please explain to them why I can't resist eating grass?

Smudge

Dear Smudge,

First of all, don't be ashamed.  It is completely normal for dogs to eat grass on occasion!  Of course, if your mom and dad treat the grass with pesticides or herbicides, then you need to watch what you eat.  Some dogs just like to eat grass, it tickles their tongue and can also aid in digestion.

On the other hand, if you are running around eating every blade in sight because you feel the need to, well -- throw up -- then maybe your mom and dad need to take a look at the underlying cause.  A consultation with your vet to rule out any serious medical ailments may be in order.  If given four paw up by your vet, then it may be time to look at another food and protein source.  An allergy blend may be in order.

The Pet Pantry offers a wide variety of natural and holistic pet foods, including human quality allergy blends.  We even have many free samples so you can decide what you like best.  We can also save your mom and dad time by delivering it right to your door.  You know how much these humans love the internet, they can even shop on line 24/7.

The Pet Pantry also carries a supplement from Ark Naturals called Nu-Pet Chewable Canine Wafers.  Probiotics help fortify the "good" bacteria that helps us digest all that great food.

Tell Mom and Dad to keep an eye on you, but to relax as long as you don't overdo the greenery.

Bon appetit,

Muggs

Thank you for your business!
