Greetings!

"I honestly believe that our little ones have the biggest hearts and we will be in safe hands with them when they grow up." (quote from Terri our staff Backpack Attack Project Manager and retired teacher of 30 years). Pictured below is a BBQ party to collect backpacks held by Alicia Branigan of Dracut for all the friends of her daughter in Dracut. The kids are all going into the 3rd grade but have no idea who this year's teachers will be. This was a great win-win social event.  This was one of so many really creative and thoughful events and collections held by our younger donors.

Thanks to all who donated and there were a lot of you!  Backpack attack is winding down. We are still accepting supplies and packs until Sept 30 but we have met our our goal of 1,500 and gotten all the homeless kids on our list packs!

A busy amazing week!  36 people provided with furnishings yesterday including 21 beds - in a 3 hr time span! Tuesday was incredibly busy with more than 500 backpacks going out in addition to 3 wishes being filled. We thought that we had never seen it so busy until Wed. Wish had a bumper day providing the most mattresses in one day in recent history.  Our labor staff moved 5 king mattress sets, 4 toddler beds, 9 queen mattress sets and many kitchen tables, end tables and sectional couches.

Jakobie Osmond in his new crib thanks to a $100 Cribs 4 Kids donation

This new donated Crib4Kids went out thanks to one of you donors to our Beds 4 Kids/Cribs4 Kids program.  Little Jakobie is thrilled (pictured right).

Though we remain out of microwaves, refrigerators and twin beds, most of the large and small items were filled and the families were happy. We are so glad that we have another truckload of mattresses on the way but we have no frames for the 80 or so queens coming out way.

Big thanks

Huge thanks to Jack,  Lynn,  Betsy and Camille, Jamel and the other volunteers there on Tue and Wed. it took an army of volunteers and staff to make so many wishes come true in such a short time.   When the chips are down (and  management is on crutches), you all really came through.

Laura Haven

for being the backup warehouse manager, backpack expedite, hot line backup,  and Wish maker along with her other duties of volunteer manager. Multitasking has been pushed to the limit these past 6 weeks with Jill out and me unable to walk.  You have had your own family challenges and never lost a step.  You even delivered the backpack donations from Harbor of Hope Church. Keep up the amazing work but help is on the way.
Scott Goldberg DMD, This generous dentist PICand his staff from Billerica, collected a mountain of school supplies and backpacks.  He is on the board of House of Hope and they were one of the many homeless shelters that received the  packs .  Small world! Jill Lemoine organized and delivered them.

Many more Backpack Attack donors   next week!
