For All the Saints...

Douglas came across this most beautiful Litany...thought it would be nice to share with our community of St. Nicholas as we and the Church celebrate the feast of All Saints'.

Let us pray...

Manny

Almighty and everlasting God, we give you most high praise and hearty thanks for the wonderful grace and virtue declared in all your saints, who have been the chosen vessels of your grace, and the lights of the world in their times: for Abraham, the father of believers, and Sarah his wife; for Moses the lawgiver and Aaron the priest; for Miriam and Joshua, Deborah and Gideon, and Samuel and Hannah his mother, and for all the holy patriarchs; for Isaiah and all the prophets; for the Blessed Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ our Lord and God; for Peter and Paul and all the apostles; for Mary and Martha, and Mary Magdalene; for Stephen, the first martyr and for all the martyrs; and for all your other righteous servants, known to us and unknown; and we beseech you that, rejoicing in their fellowship, encouraged by their examples, and aided by their prayers, we also may run with steadfastness the race that is set before us, and finish our course in faith; and that at the day of the general resurrection, we, with all those who are of the mystical body of your Son, may be set on his right hand, and hear his most joyful voice: "Come, you blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world." Grant this, O Father, for the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, our only Mediator and Advocate.

"For all the saints, who from their labor rest, who thee by faith before the world confessed, Thy name, O Jesus, be for ever blessed. Alleluia, alleluia!"

St. Nicholas & Our Generosity
Life is quite exciting at St. Nicholas! New ministries have begun and new people are participating in ongoing ministries.  In addition to your time, talent, love and energy, we hope that you'll contribute your monetary resources, which, in addition to your other valued gifts, enable us to continue to change lives--our own and those of others who are part of the St. Nicholas Community.  As we continue to stress, that community includes those who worship at St. Nicholas, but also those who rely on our community for the many support groups hosted by St. Nicholas which are vital to their lives.  Our community includes our guests who come to our food pantry, and those who seek a welcome and warm embrace as they drop by during the week.

We are most grateful for the many ways all the members of the Community of St. Nicholas support, enhance and give life to our mission and ministries.

We hope you are considering your pledge to St. Nicholas for 2012.  As we wrote earlier, our hope is for every household at St. Nicholas to submit a pledge form for 2012 by November 20 so that we may plan for next year's budget.

Pledge forms are at this link and on the shelf just outside the worship space.

Of course, we are always seeking your gift of time and talent as well.  Please take a look at the "Serving" page of our website and see if there is a ministry you feel called to share in.

More information may be found at this link.

The St. Nicholas Community Outreach Team Needs Your Help

As many of you know, the St. Nicholas Community Outreach Team was recently formed, and has been working toward increasing our visibility within the community at large.  Our ultimate goal is to increase membership and attendance both from without and within.  We are encouraged to continue growing the energy of the congregation, involving all of you in strengthening and improving our wonderful St.Nick's.

Welcome TableWe hope you were as excited about the Welcome Table (our first undertaking) as we were to get it off the ground.  Please wear those beautiful badges proudly.  It's a great way to get to know one another better!  Even our children were anxious to wear theirs' last weekend.

Newcomers will be wearing a handwritten badge in RED for a visit or two.  Please make them welcome by showing them around, answering any questions they may have, and generally just being your cordial selves.  Let them know this is their home too!

Additionally, we are asking you to keep your eyes and ears open to any venues (fairs, conferences, speaking occasions, parade opportunities, etc.) in which St. Nick's can participate.

Occasionally, we will seek volunteers to post flyers in visible locations, inviting the public to worship with us or informing them of special events.  One of the major goals you have verbalized is to increase membership.  We will do all we can on our end, but we really need your support and physical help.

Thanks in advance!!!

We look forward to working with all of you,

-Bob De Haven, Paul Swanson, Ginny Gibbs, Hal Stratton, and Jan Tossman
