Helping Children and Youth Achieve their Potential through Education

United Way of Broward County understands a good education builds the foundation of individual and community success. However, there are still so many obstacles preventing our children from entering school ready to learn and succeeding academically. That's why United Way is committed to supporting services, programs and activities that best prepare children for school, ensuring they have the social emotional and intellectual tools to attain academic success.

 

Whether you are a parent, a teacher or a Broward County resident, you can make a difference in the quality of education the children in our community are receiving. New Website to Support Broward Teachers, Parents and Youth

United Way of Broward County has launched a new website, Broward Teachers Rock to support local teachers and parents. The new website is an online community conference table where parents and teachers can find valuable resources, important education issues, share stories about great teachers, and participate in live forums to be better advocates for our children's education.

ReadingPals:  Volunteers Wanted

In an effort to ensure more children are reading at grade level by the end of third grade, United Way of Broward County is excited to announce ReadingPals - a three-year initiative focused on engaging, training and deploying
800 volunteer "reading pals" in our community. 

 

Created in partnership with The Children's Movement, United Way of Broward County, Broward County Public Schools, the Women's Leadership Council, and the Children's Services Council of Broward County - and through support provided by Carol and Barney Barnett - ReadingPals is a fun and meaningful way to help make a difference in the lives of Broward County youth. Tools for Kids 

Over the summer, Publix Super Markets held an in-store promotion raising more than $103,000 for United Way of Broward County to help provide  children in our community with school supplies. The supplies purchased Tools for Kidswith these funds will be distributed to teachers of Broward County schools. Publix shoppers had the opportunity to donate $5, $7 or $10 at the checkout and recieved a free reusable bag as a thank you. 

 

Thank you, Publix and Publix shoppers for helping our children by providing them the supplies they need to succeed in school!
