Last year, the Mobile Resource Center provided nearly 400 Broward County working families free tax assistance, filing Earned Income Tax Credits totaling $444,320.
United Way of Broward County is collaborating with a host of partners including: Children's Services Council of Broward County, Hispanic Unity of Florida, Urban League of Broward County, JM Family Enterprises, Inc., Consolidated Credit Counseling Services, Inc., Wells Fargo, 2-1-1 Broward, Minority Development & Empowerment, Inc., Internal Revenue Service, Broward County, and HandsOn Broward.

Making Broward County
Financially Independent | |
Alba, a single mother of two teenagers facing foreclosure, visited one of Broward County's VITA sites last year for help filing her taxes. The VITA team discovered she was only claiming one of her children and she was eligible for Earned Income Tax Credits.
Alba received a refund of $4,800 for her 2010 return and the team amended her 2007-2009 returns for an additional $5,000.
With these additional dollars, Alba was able to keep her home. She started to cry and said, "this money will change my life!"
