Labor Day weekend is bittersweet, isn't it? The new beginnings of a school year (come on, even if you are decades out of school-you have not forgotten that excitement -or perhaps dread) and the sad farewell to summer. The terrible traffic of the Tuesday after Labor Day brought us all back to reality this morning, didn't it?
Over the next few months we will see a number of new beginnings and you will absolutely be affected by a few of them, no matter where you are in the school, work, or federal continuum. Let's take stock of these multiple new beginnings:
--A new school year
--A new federal fiscal year
--Another presidential election
--A new calendar year
What is your plan to make the most of the upcoming multiple new starts? Remember, hope is not an effective strategy. Those who plan ahead., who envision their success, who work the plan and make necessary adjustments will see their goals reached. Would you like to be one of the few who are celebrating success in the coming year instead of complaining?
Planning for success is critical in today's market. We are here to help you see the success you envision. Call us.
Give Me Five Webinar - "Capability Statements: The Do's and Don'ts for Success"
Gloria Larkin is teaming with WIPP and their Give Me Five initiative for a live webinar "Capability Statements: The Do's and Don'ts for Success" It will be held:
Wednesday, September 12, 3-4pm ET, 12-1pm PT
About the webinar: "First impressions are important, and making sure you have a capability statement that accurately represents you in an understandable way will help your company capture the interest of agency contracting personnel and prime contractors. Learn about common mistakes and omissions in company capability statements, how to target your capability statements to your audience, and what key elements you must include to get your foot in the door."
I've heard it said that the most brilliant business ideas are often the simplest. From my experience, it's true. In fact, when I am fortunate enough to receive sage advice from a famously gifted person, I'll often ask myself, "Why didn't I think of that?" So here I humbly share with you a winning formula that I see leaders use again and again and again...to change the world.
Use this formula the next time you feel stuck-whether you are trying to change your industry, your company or your personal life-and I promise you it will work.
Question Number 1: What's the outcome I want?
Asking the question "what is the outcome I want?" forces the mind to focus on the final destination, not the current bumps in the road. The brilliance of this question is that it immediately puts you in the "creator" mindset. And once successful people envision the destination, they move quickly to the second, world-changing question.

Are you ready for a "Zombie Apocalypse?" The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Individual and Community Preparedness Division and Ready.gov present a FREE Webinar about zombie preparedness on September 6.
While the walking dead may not be first on your list of local hazards, zombie preparedness messages and activities have proven to be an effective way of engaging new audiences who may not be familiar with what to do before, during, or after a disaster. It also injects a little levity into preparedness while still informing and educating people. As director of the Center for Disease Control, Dr. Ali Khan, notes, "If you are generally well equipped to deal with a zombie apocalypse you will be prepared for a hurricane, pandemic, earthquake, or terrorist attack."
The Webinar is titled "Zombie Awareness: Effective Practices in Promoting Disaster Preparedness" and is on Thursday, September 6th at 3:00 p.m. EDT. Everyone is invited to log on and participate.
