Greetings!

We have a short week coming up, with a holiday weekend to spend time doing what makes you happy. I hope you spend the time doing whatever you want, with whomever you want. Maybe something that celebrates the good fortune we have to be living in this country. With all of our challenges, we still are fortunate to be here, to be here now, and to have the chance to make things better for us now, and for our children's future.

I am grateful for many, many things-the love of a wonderful husband, good health, sweet happiness, a sense of humor, work that keeps us very busy, fantastic colleagues with uncompromising work ethics, a loving family and friends who are there no matter what.

Since the weekend following Thanksgiving has developed into a national spending spree, we'd like to add a gift to help spur on the small business economy. 3% Withholding Repealed

WIPP ALERT: House votes to repeal the 3% withholding tax

The long fight to finally repeal the 3% withholding requirement is now close to an end. Last week the House of Representatives passed H.R. 674 by a vote of 422 yeas to 0 nays. This action finally sets the stage for repeal of this onerous law. The legislation will now make its way to the President for his signature. The President is expected to sign the bill into law as the White House has previously issued a statement in support of repeal.

As you may remember, the House had already voted overwhelmingly to repeal the 3% withholding tax in late October. The Senate followed that up with a vote of 95 yeas to 0 nays in favor of repeal. However, due to differences attached to the Senate-passed bill, the House was required to take another vote.

Thank you to all who helped achieve this. All of your action alert letters, your campaigning on the Hill visits, and other efforts helped this bill clear the Congress. WIPP will let you know when the President signs the repeal bill into law.

Alliance Spotlight on Construction Event

Gloria Larkin will be speaking at the upcoming Alliance Spotlight on Construction Event, December 5th-6th in Arlington, VA. It is an intense meeting and networking event designed for the more experienced businesses to interact with agencies and prime contractors in the federal construction arena. This event is limited to 50 companies and each company will meet with construction primes and agencies.
