September 2011                                                               Issue 1

Greetings!

September is rocking and rolling, as the last month of the federal fiscal year is upon us. What is left in the budget and does not get spent is "lost", so there is a great push for all of the contracts that can go through to be pushed through. Make it as easy as possible on contracting and acquisition staff; have all of your tools ready: Capability Statements, a streamlined order process, credit card acceptance, GSA Schedules, IDIQs, and BPAs and work late to take those last minute phone calls and emails!

The budget is changing, cuts will be made, and those who have the strongest relationships built with decision-makers will see the most success. Use us to help you, we know the process and will help you fast-track market success.

In the meantime, we are moving ahead with the Executive Level Roundtable Discussion Group. We start on October 25, and will send details to all who have expressed interest. If you have already sent an email, no need to send another, we have your info and will send you the details. However, if you want to participate, either in-person or by phone, and have not contacted us yet, please send Donna Swann an email and she will send you all the information.

If you are at any of this week's events noted in the right hand column, please make sure to say hello and let me know how you are doing.

Here's to your success!

Trusted connections with decision-makers is a key component to a successful business development strategy. In the age of Google searches, email and social networking, it is easy to overlook the essential element of the handshake.

Hear David Powell, VP Sales & Marketing for Federal Business Council, Inc., discuss the complex role of events and their unique place in the federal marketing mix and why they work for both the government as well as industry participants.

Interview with TargetGov President Gloria Larkin

WIPP member Gloria Larkin, President TargetGov says, "My connections that have resulted from my involvement with WIPP have been nothing less than remarkable... I've made international and national connections. Bottom line, as a businesswoman, I've actually seen customer relationships grow with men and women whom I've met through WIPP; they've become our clients or we've become theirs. So it's made my life incredibly rich not just from a business perspective but from a personal perspective as well."
