I just left one of the most energizing conferences I have ever attended: The 5th Annual Veterans Conference. It was hot, and I don't mean because it was in Las Vegas in July!
What made it so great? Well, attendance was phenomenal at over 3,000 veterans in all stages of business development from beginners to well-established multi-million dollar firms. The federal agencies and prime contractors were making every effort to reach out and the expo was mobbed from the opening bell to closing tear-down.
Business was being conducted at a fast pace, and the energy was high. This is how things turn around! This is what starts a ground-swell. This is how entrepreneurs make businesses succeed! I was proud to be a part of this event and look forward to helping many veteran-owned companies become as successful as possible as quickly as possible. And to the veterans, thank you all for your service! And BTW, if you are a not-yet-golfer, check out the class below. I loved it so much that we are bringing the Business of Golf to all of you! If you ever wondered about what really happens on the golf course-both men and women-attend this great class to see what it is all about. Here's to your success!

E-Verify: New Requirement For Government Contractors
Effective for contracts awarded after Septmber 8, 2009, the government will adopt the e-Verify system to monitor employment eligibility for all government contractors and their employees. The Employment Verification Clause states:
(A) The contractor is required to enroll in the e-Verify program within 30 days of award of a contract containing the Employment Eligibility Verification clause.
(B) The contractor is required to verify the employment eligibility of the following employees within 90 days of enrollment: 1. All new employees. 2. All employees "assigned to the contract." "The contract" means the contract that includes the Employment Eligibility Verification clause. "Assigned to the contract" means directly performing work under the contract. |
TargetGov Presents:
Golf: The Sport of Business
There are numerous golf tournaments scheduled every week--are you comfortable playing? Do you know what to do, what to say, how to behave, what to wear? I recently attended a great golf class that covered all the rules and etiquette needed for a non or new business golfer to feel comfortable playing in tournaments, fund raisers and with clients and colleagues. We also had a full lesson with the course pro covering swings, stance, irons and woods, putting and short and long games.
It was so helpful I decided to sponsor a class for all interested TargetGov readers. It will take place Tuesday August 11, 2009 at the Timbers at Troy Golf Course in Elkridge, MD. Attend for special promotional price of $99, paid directly to the golf experts at Acuity Sports.

Learning From the Conqueror
From my good friend Art Jacoby: The course of English History was profoundly altered in 1066 when an army led by William Duke of Normandy crossed the English Channel with 7,000 soldiers and defeated an English army of comparable size led by King Harold. The English should have easily won this battle but made mistakes every step of the way. Get the full story and what it can teach you about YOUR business by clicking here | |
