| Chamber FACEBOOK Improvements |
Many of our Chamber members have created Facebook pages for their businesses. The Chamber is updating our Facebook pages and we need your help to promote your businesses via the Arlington Chamber Facebook page. What we need from you is promotional material for your business. Examples are pictures, details of your business hours, location, website, and any promotions you may have.
Board Member, Alan Tauber, is helping us gather the information and create our page. Please send your materials to alanrtauber@yahoo.com
Files may be sent in any format. Since photos and images will be for web application they need not be large, full size files. Send what you have and we'll work our magic!
Our goal is to highlight one or two Chamber member businesses each week on our Facebook page and then link it to Twitter to drive more interest. As we progress with the program we hope to add more features. Please help us make the Arlington Chamber Facebook page a fun and informational page! Sincerely, Dr. Maureen Gormley Executive Board Member IT Chairman

NEW! Although Hurricane Irene weakened before hitting Arlington, the storm still had enough power to down trees and cause power outages in Town. Arlington's Emergency Operations Center was mobilized on Sunday and Town emergency crews worked late into the night and into Monday to remove downed trees, clear roads, and help residents who were severely impacted by the storm. Public Works will continue with clean-up efforts for the next few weeks, first focusing on downed trees and major branch removals from public ways. Beginning September 7th, Public Works will be systematically covering each street in Town to pick up remaining downed limbs. Any debris which fell along streets and sidewalks will be picked up. This process may take up to 2 weeks and all streets will be visited. If after September 21 your street has not been cleared, please call the Public Works Dispatch Office at 781-316-3301. For tree or large limb removal from private property, contact a professional Tree service. Residents who need to dispose of smaller branches are reminded to take advantage of the Town's bi-weekly curbside yard waste collection. For full details, please visit arlingtonma.gov/recycle. Please note, the Town has run into delays addressing some downed trees on power lines and isolated power outages. The removal of these trees must be performed with assistance by NSTAR as power lines need to be deactivated. Due to public safety concerns at these locations, the Town is in constant contact with NSTAR to have this work performed. NSTAR reports the delay is due to higher priority safety concerns in other municipalities. The Town will continue to strongly advocate that NSTAR expedite this work. The Town would like to thank the efforts of Arlington Emergency Management Agency volunteers who worked collaboratively with Arlington's Fire, Police, Health, and Public Works departments. The Town would also like to thank residents who prepared for the storm by securing loose items outside, removing old tree branches, and helping neighbors, among the many efforts to prepare for the storm. These combined efforts helped minimize the storm's impact to us all and are greatly appreciated. |
