What: The Arlington International Film & Video Festival

'Where Arlington and the World Converge' Press Conference and Reception.

Where: Arlington Town Hall Hearing Room

There will be a press announcement at 5:45 P.M.
to announce the winner of the AIFVF Poster Contest,

What: "Books in Bloom"

When: Friday, March 4th, 6-9pm 

Where: Robbins Library 

 

The Friends of the Robbins Library and the Arlington Garden Club presents "Books in Bloom" on Friday, March 4th, 2011 in the lobby and the rotunda of the Robbins Library from 6 - 9 pm. "Books in Bloom" is a book lover's version of the Museum of Fine Arts' popular "Art in Bloom" program. The lobby of the library will be filled with unique and creative floral arrangements that will bring to life a variety of books. Local florists as well as Garden Club members will create the arrangements.

 

Local authors will also be featured with their books. The Jazzabelles will provide background music during the program.  Delicious and   savory hors d'oevres and sweets will be served and cocktails will be provided for sale.  Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door and are available at the Circulation Desk at the Robbins Library or by e-mail from Pat Cura of the Garden Club ([email protected]; 617-947-4159) or Amy McElroy of the Friends ([email protected]; 781-648-4109). Checks can be made payable to the "Arlington Garden Club".  Proceeds will benefit Arlington's libraries and the Arlington Garden Club

Free admission (Donations to the Arlington Food Pantry are welcome)  This is the second annual Arlington Home Show sponsored by RE/MAX Leading Edge.  As real estate professionals, we believe a strong business community makes a town a desirable place to live.  We have invited all local companies to exhibit and measuring from last year's success, and the number of returning companies we believe we are helping support those local companies.

SCORE Counselors to America's Small Business is a nonprofit association dedicated to entrepreneurial education and the formation, growth and success of small businesses nationwide.

A SCORE counselor comes to the Arlington Chamber's office on the first Wednesday of every month to meet with Chamber members for confidential one-hour consultations.

The Arlington Board of Selectmen will be holding a public forum at which Town Manager Brian Sullivan will present an overview of the Town's finances, the FY2012 Town budget, and its relative impacts on Town services. A question and answer session will follow. The public is invited to attend this forum to be held at Town Hall Auditorium, Thursday, March 3, at 7 p.m. The Town Manager's FY2012 Financial Plan will be available online Tuesday, Feb 22nd at the end of business day, at arlingtonma.gov/budgets.

"The Moving Wall"

Vietnam War Memorial "The Moving Wall" comes to Arlington Thursday April 14, 2011 at 5:00 p.m., and will be available for viewing 24 hours a day through the morning of Monday, April 18, 2011  

 

Through the efforts of many individuals, the Town of Arlington is pleased to announce that it has been selected to host "The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Moving Wall" otherwise known as "The Moving Wall" beginning on Thursday April 14, 2011 at 5:00 p.m., and will be available for viewing 24 hours a day through the morning of Monday, April 18, 2011 at the back of Arlington High School, 869 Massachusetts Avenue. The Moving Wall is a half-size replica of the Washington D.C. Vietnam Veterans Memorial and has been touring the country for more than twenty years. The Wall was dedicated in Washington D.C. in 1982.
