Fall Colors Peaking at Blandford
Even if you're dreading the onset of winter, the woods of autumn are sure to brighten the shortening days. The bright orange and red confetti on the sugar maples signals the beginning of the forest fireworks. The gnarly sassafras trees take the cue and light up with lemony oranges on their leaves shaped like footballs, mittens and ghosts. Juneberries, staghorn sumacs and dogwoods also cheer up the understory, ranging from clear red to deep purple. As autumn winds down in November, look to the oaks and beeches for tenaciously hanging on to their crisp brown leaves. Come check out these beautiful colors before they drop to the ground - if you've been meaning to come explore, go for a walk, or just enjoy a fall day with your family, now is the perfect time!

Community Project will Expand Resources
Blandford is hoping to engage in a meaningful community project this fall - the building of an Odawa summer house. These summer homes were used by the Odawa prior to the Euro-American settlement. We'll be able to use it for educational programs for all ages. Funding for the framing and bark collection has come from generous donations by the O'Donovan Family Foundation. We're currently seeking donors to help fund the task of covering the dome with bark. We hope you will consider taking an interest with your time or money to help Blandford complete this important undertaking!
