Seniors Learn with Beis Midrash Students
B.M. LearningNew this year, FYHS seniors have the chance to learn Halacha with HTC Beis Midrash students. This change was made to increase the intensity of learning and help forge even greater relationships with our Beis Midrash students. Our Beis Midrash students, many of whom have graduated from FYHS, serve as shining examples for our younger students.  Their diligence and love of Torah and Mitzvos are qualities that we constantly imbue in our students.

We wish continued academic success to all our students.
Yeshiva Bowl and Lattof YMCA
On March 12th, FYHS students convened to participate in Yeshiva Bowl 2010.  Students spent Shabbos at the Yeshiva competing in a tournament very much like "College Bowl."  Twelve teams, comprised of various grades and skill levels, were led by seniors.  They answered questions on various Torah and Jewish topics ranging from Gemara to general Israel knowledge.  During Shabbos, students enjoyed a heartwarming oneg led by Rabbi Moshe Schecter and heard wonderful Divrei Torah from our Rabbeim.

Latoff YMCA After Shabbos, students enjoyed a fun-filled exclusive evening at the Lattof YMCA followed by a pizza Melave Malka.  Students swam, climbed "the Wall", and played racquetball and basketball, among other fun sports. These types of programs greatly enhance student ruach and encourage students to achieve their maximum academic potential while remaining in a structured, enjoyable Torah environment.

Alumni Israel Shabbatonim... A Real Hit!
Shabbaton in Old CityOn November 4, 2009, Shabbos Parashas Toldos, FYHS class of 2008 unified for an unbelievable Shabbaton at Yeshivat Netiv Aryeh in the Old City of Jerusalem together with HTC's Mashgiach Ruchani, Rabbi Zvi Zimmerman, and Director of Admissions, Rabbi Joshua Zisook. Shabbos started with Friday night ruach at the Kotel and continued with a visit to Harav Avigdor Nebenzahl, Shlita, Chief Rabbi of the Old City. As one student put it, "This was one of the greatest Shabbatot I have ever experienced in my time in Israel!"  Shabbos concluded with dancing at the Kotel as the students parted ways.

On February 12, 2010, Shabbos Parashas Mishpatim, FYHS class of 2009 came together for a reunion shabbaton with Rabbi Yosef Polstein at Yeshivat Torat Shraga in Bayit Vegan.  The students spent Shabbos sharing divrei Torah and listening attentively to their Rebbe. Shabbos was filled with dancing, ruach and inspiration.  They convened for a get-together during the week at RYU Asian Restaurant, where they reminisced about their years at the Yeshiva.

We wish hatzlacha rabba to all our alumni in their future studies.

Israel Action Committee
Israel Action CommitteeThe Israel Action Committee is newly improved this year!  Headed by seniors Levi Klein, Yochi Gerstein and Daniel Kanter, and supervised by Rabbi Shmuel Schuman, this year the committee held a fundraising dinner for the entire school on behalf of an orphanage in Israel.   The students enjoyed shwarma from Mizrachi Grill in Highland Park while listening to words of inspiration about Israel from Rabbi Schuman.

The Israel Action Committee was founded to help build awareness of the importance of Israel and increase solidarity with our brethren in Israel.

FYHS Students Assist with HTC's Mishloach Manos Project
mishloach manosThank you to the students of Fasman Yeshiva High School, along with our Beis Midrash, Kollel, staff and community volunteers, for giving of your time and helping pack and deliver Mishloach Manos. This year, HTC distributed over 3,000 packages throughout the Chicagoland area. Yiyasher Kochachem!
FYHS Students Make Bigdei Yisrael a Reality
Bigdei YisraelOn March 14, FYHS students helped run one of HTC's most popular chesed projects, the Rabbi William Z. Novick Bigdei Yisrael. They serviced approximately six hundred cars in four hours, handling donations of bags and boxes of clothing to be distributed to Israel.  As a project of the Alumni Association of HTC, Bigdei Yisrael has turned into a true Kiddush Hashem for our community.   It has distributed over sixty tons of gently used clothing to hundreds of families throughout Israel. It has made a huge difference in the lives of Jewish children and adults in need.  Thanks to all who participated!
We hope you enjoyed these insights into Fasman Yeshiva High School.
