Greetings!
Some years ago, as Mother's Day was nearing, I was asked by an acquaintance if I was a mother. When I answered 'no' she replied with a quick little 'oh' and stopped short of wishing me a Happy Mother's Day, which always struck me as odd since I do have a mother and we definitely had plans to spend a happy day together celebrating all that is good between mothers and daughters.
I am blessed to have an amazing mother who taught me about life not just with her words but by her selfless, ever constant example. My grandmother was a pretty amazing woman too. I was so well nourished with love growing up. My heart swells with joy at the thought of how special I was in the eyes of these two women.
So in gratitude to all good moms and grandmas everywhere who keep the fabric of life from unraveling around us, and to especially honor our great Mother Earth as life continues to spring forth from this planet, miraculously, I wish sincerely that all may have a very blessed Mother's Day. Peace, love and hugs.

| Did You Know? |
~Sprouts Almost any seed, bean, grain or nut can be sprouted. And since the natural cycle of germination typically takes place in the Spring, this is the perfect time of year to enjoy sprouts in abundance.
Many vitamins, minerals and enzymes necessary for good digestion are released during the sprouting process. You can enjoy wheat sprouts and wheat grass with no problem even if you have a gluten intolerance.
~Sprouting at Home Select alfalfa, sunflower, fenugreek, spicy radish, green peas, lentils, mung, adzuki or any one you like. Be sure to choose organic so you know they have not been sprayed with anything harmful.
Put a handful of seeds or beans (keep separate or mix a few together) in a large glass jar and fill with three times as much water. Cover with cloth or screen for draining. Soak overnight or up to 24 hours, then drain and rinse, placing the jar out of sunlight on its side for two to three days. Be sure to rinse, drain and gently shake sprouts twice a day. Keep moist, not wet or dry. Finally allow a blend of indirect and direct sunlight for a couple of days, remembering to keep your tender sprouts moist.
Chlorophyll rich green tips mean they are ready to eat. Refrigerate in a covered container and add to salads, soups and sandwiches. |
