Greetings!
Let's welcome Spring with its symbolism for growth, change and renewal. This presents an opportunity to refresh not just our outer living environment, but our inner home too.
Spring is the ideal time to re-stimulate a sluggish metabolism and clear out excess from heavier fats and proteins consumed during long Winter months.
Spring is a wet season and like Earth, our bodies will retain water and mucus this time of year, so you may want to decrease grains, fats and proteins. Start having more sprouts, and try bitter astringent greens such as spinach, kale, chard, parsley, celery, asparagus, cilantro and watercress, as well as roots such as burdock and chicory. These vegetables are natural diuretics which help release excess fluids we tend to hold onto in the Spring.
Springtime cleaning will often present the opportunity to view old patterns in your life with new awareness. Look forward to new beginnings, cleaning body and home, elimination and exercise, gardens and sprouting greens, creativity and enthusiasm.

| Intro to Yoga Workshop at WH&W |
with Jennifer Varriano
The body is as young as it is flexible. Hatha Yoga focuses on the health, strength and flexibility of the spine.
Join us at Whole Health and Wellness for an introduction to Yoga. Jennifer Varriano offers continuing classes designed to relax the body and mind, strengthen and tone muscles, and maintain and increase flexibility in the joints. This leads to improved posture, better digestion, and the elimination of aches and pains. Practicing yoga can relieve depression and restore happiness and well-being by invigorating the internal organs and endocrine system.
Yoga means union. Yoga not only develops the body, but also broadens mental and spiritual capacities. Come celebrate the union of ones own consciousness with the Universal consciousness. All skill and interest levels are invited.
During this two hour workshop, Jennifer will explain the benefits of breathing practice (pranayama) and introduce some basic poses (asanas) that you can try. Questions will be answered and light refreshments following.
Please join us for this very special event at Whole Health And Wellness!

| Did You Know? |
~Celery is harvested during the Spring and Summer. Its alkaline nature helps neutralize acids after a long winter of nuts and grains. Celery mixes well with almost all foods and makes a wonderful addition to any juice. It is high in minerals, rich in sodium, potassium and sulfur. Its astringent quality purifies the blood. Celery is best eaten raw during Spring and Summer.
~Millet is a high protein wheat alternative which will heat up the body and is drying by nature, making it a perfect grain to enjoy in the Spring. |
